Approved Profiles: Loners Stalkers that are unaffiliated with any organized faction in the Zone, loners are not only the most numerous of stalkers, but also the most diverse. These stalkers earn their money mainly by buying and selling scavenged equipment and artifacts, as well as the occasional odd job. However, many are not much higher ethically than bandits, and frequently resort to raids and armed robberies on other stalkers or groups. While loners are not bound together as a faction, most travel in squads and groups of varying organization and hierarchy. Due to their dispersion throughout the Zone, loners have no specific base or headquarters, but rather make their immediate area their home. Despite this, concentrations are always high at the rookie village in Cordon, as well as the shared Duty base in Rostok, where the 100 Rads Bar is located. Moderators: Zeno, Lord Camelith, Basil |

Approved Profiles: Mercenaries An elusive faction with a rumored headquarters somewhere near the abandoned city of Limansk, mercs are also quite widespread throughout the Zone. Many start as loners who offer themselves as rookie guns for hire, and later find their way to the organization itself. The leadership of the mercenary faction remains unknown to even the most prolific stalkers in the Zone, although it is speculated that both the military's espionage units and the Freedom faction know about this more than most do. Approved Profiles: Bandits Making a living off armed robbery of rookie loners in the Garbage, Dark Valley and parts of the Cordon, as well as quasi-organised raids on Duty and Army outposts, the bandits are known as the scourge of the southern parts of the Zone. This dark side of the loner division is centered around a factory compound base in the Dark Valley, and exerts massive influence over the said territory, as well as the Garbage and even parts of Cordon and the Agroprom region. Despite the efforts to contain the bandit squad prevalence being perhaps the only mutual goal of the loners, Duty, the mercenaries, and the military alike, bandit numbers are hardly falling. The bandit headquarters at the Dark Valley displays the faction's relative degree of hierarchy and organization. Moderators: Zeno, Lord Camelith, Basil |

Faction: Duty Well trained, well equipped, and well disciplined, this paramilitary force focuses around the prime objective of protecting stalkers while containing and sequestering the Zone, if not destroying it outright. This police-like activity has earned it the ire of the mercenaries, bandits, and the anarchistic Freedom faction, all of whom refuse to cooperate or communicate with Duty's forces. Tightly concentrated around the Rostok region, Duty is pushing with considerable force into the Wild Territories and Army Warehouse hills area south of the Red Forest. Duty faces opposition from the mercenaries, Freedom, and bandit factions, as well as the significant mutant presence surrounding their safe zone. Nevertheless, the highly organized faction has proven more than an equal to all of its opponents. Moderators: Zeno, Lord Camelith, Basil |

Faction: Freedom Freedom, like Duty, is a paramilitary faction. However, the similarities end there. Best described as a ragtag motley crew of anarchists, scientists, mercenaries, as well as stalkers discouraged by Duty and the Army's suppression of the Zone, Freedom stakes out its goal as a Zone free to all to explore and discover. Freedom is supplied by the mercenary faction with weapons, and maintains a shaky truce with the secretive organization despite past misgivings. Freedom remains of neutral affiliation with loners and bandits, although it actively recruits members of both stalker groups. Moderators: Zeno, Lord Camelith, Basil |

Ecologists Government-funded scientists working in the Zone, the ecologist faction maintains a mobile scientific lab base in the marshes previously known as Yantar Lake. Having lost the support of the Army, the ecologists rely mainly on themselves and the occasional Duty or loner squad for protection. As a result, they have turned from seemingly innocuous eggheads to fully armed and equipped research force with far more advanced knowledge of the Zone as a whole than most other factions. Military Stalkers Stalkers that have been spared by, or hired by the Russian Army in order to help pursue the government's own secret goals in the Zone. Military stalkers are a rare sight, and while not directly serving in the ranks of the Spetsnaz, typically recieve top-of-the-line weapons and armor developed by the Russian military research teams. These warriors are generally deployed in the centermost regions of the Zone, including the Red Forest, Freedom, and approaches to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The Monolith The most mysterious of all stalkers found in the Zone, all Monolithians appear to have been stalkers of entirely different factions who had gone missing or killed North of the Freedom barrier separating the Red Forest from the southern territories. It is speculated that these mindless warriors had been brainwashed by some sort of high-amplitude emitter hidden deep within the Zone. One thing is certain however, the Monolith faction defends its domains more fiercely than any other faction in the Zone, and is somehow supplied with the highest grade weaponry. Nevertheless, only a fool would sacrifice their own freedom to willingly join the Monolith faction. Moderators: Zeno, Lord Camelith, Basil |
