I got to Yanov Station, and since then CoP randomly CTDs when I attempt to save. If CoP does NOT CTD on save, it CTDs when I attempt to load that successful save. And adding insult to that save/load CTD problem, attempting to submit an error report to the devs fails with an error.

I haven't had any problems yet thankfully, your not running any mods are you?

What does the error log say?
I have had quite a few CTDs and just as many BSODs from CoP which the error log says is caused by 'motion marks'.
A lot of them seem to happen on scoping into a target with the Vintorez, upgraded with contrast scope and target recognition. No other scope does it, not even the Vintorez before upgrade.

A lot of them seem to happen on scoping into a target with the Vintorez, upgraded with contrast scope and target recognition. No other scope does it, not even the Vintorez before upgrade. Reading both log files in the error report ZIP archives, I see 2 error types repeatedly turning up. A fatal error on the SetWeatherFX function. An !m_error_code on the raii_guard function. Both types of error cause CTD. The error Line Numbers remain consistent for each error type. [error]Expression : fatal error [error]Function : CEnvironment::SetWeatherFX [error]File : D:\prog_repository\sources\trunk\xrEngine\Environment.cpp [error]Line : 357 [error]Description : <no expression> [error]Arguments : ! Empty weather effect name
[error]Expression : !m_error_code [error]Function : raii_guard::~raii_guard [error]File : D:\prog_repository\sources\trunk\xrServerEntities\script_storage.cpp [error]Line : 748 [error]Description : .... - call of pripyat\gamedata\scripts\xr_logic.script:1270: attempt to index local 'obj' (a nil value)Jenifur Charne

Disclaimer: I don't have CoP, and I don't play one on TV. Both of those sound like they can be easily fixed, JeniSkunk. (The CTDs, not the owning/playing.) You can check for a nil (blank) weather effect name in the script stuff that involves the weather, and simply not change the weather if the effect is missing. And you can check for a nil "obj" before you attempt to access a member element (e.g., a variable like health or position, or a member array element) on it: if obj then return obj.health else return 0 endBut you have to have the corresponding scripts extracted from whatever CoP database files. The xr_logic.script is likely still in the gamedata\scripts subdirectory when extracted and you can go directly to line 1270 in that file. And the weather stuff is also there with weather-related names. You can look on FileFront for the CoP database extractor, if Don Reba's .NET 2.0 smart extractor doesn't handle CoP. (Link was moved. If it moves again, start with the Download button on this page, go to the SMM Downloads page if not redirected and check the modder tools link.) Edit: I understand that the CS extractor works with CoP. I also suggest checking the GSC forum's CoP Bugs and Tech Support section as well as the Mod Discussion section in case this has already been resolved with a patch or code tweaks.

I have finished C.O.P and now in freeplay mode but have a problem with game crashing. It has crashed about 37 times and i can no longer save gameplay. Have been told this is because the zone is maxed out with corspes which litter up the place and this uses so much memory resources. have tried other boards but so far no-one has come up with a solution would be grateful if some one could help. the game does not have any MODS applied thanks for any help you may be able to offer

Have been told this is because the zone is maxed out with corspes which litter up the place and this uses so much memory resources. I'm no expert, but I think i smell some BS. Corpses disappear over time, even the so called 'permanent' ones. I doubt it would be possible to slaughter enemies at a rate to outweigh the memory usage before they disappear. Or at least, I've never heard of a problem like that before. I've used spawnmods to inject over 100 new NPCs or monsters onto a map at a time, and slaughtered them in rapid succession before moving on and repeating the 'experiment' 2-3 times per gameplay. While I've had some lag (2.66gHz Intel Quad/Rusty old GS9600 making themselves known there), I've only had memory crashes when I loaded the new creatures/NPCs in closed spaces too small to house them all. We've had corrupted saves before, random crashes in certain maps, runtime errors, the infamous Pripyat bug in the Russian CoP version, but nothing quite like this. NatVac might have something to say, though.

NatVac might have something to say, though. The corpse overload problem is most memorable from SoC with how the corpses of the pseudodog copies in the Red Forest can overload a system causing a CTD. The game keeps spawning psuedodogs there until you leave; run out of ammo; or are killed. CS has spots where it will keep force spawning NPCs in certain locations if you kill them before you are scheduled to. In Limansk there's one Monolith sniper on a roof, that you can kill and keep killing, and it won't fight back until the script event for its proper triggering has happened. I lost track of how many of it I killed. With unlimited ammo and a Gauss, easy enough to do. When I went to look at the corpses at the foot of the building, there was a mixed mound of them and sniper rifles. I didn't manage to CTD CS doing that. I don't know if there's anything that could cause similar in CoP though. Jenifur Charne

That sniper in the water tower or something that you can't kill until you're ordered to? Been there, done that. Seeing the corpses, I wondered what the fuck happened down there

Sorry you think its BS but its happening corspes of mutants, all types are not been removed from game i have even tried using sleep mode to see if that helped. I can play game it stutters sometimes but it just wont save even tried moving from one area to another but still crashes in auto save. Npcs are being removed and respawned ok, it just the mutants.

The Monolith sniper I was referring to is in Limansk in CoP * Hands you a card with an appointment time and date at an optometrist. Jenifur Charne
