Three stalkers emerged from the forest, drawing near the raised bridge. Aside from the green camouflage of the uniforms all of them were wearing, the three could not be less alike. One was a veritable giant, standing close to seven feet tall, although not quite as tall as the legendary Duty captain, and was clad in a flexible yellow-accented exoskeleton and carried a M240 machine gun in his hands. The second was also tall, almost twiggy in his stature, and toted a gigantic Arctic Warfare rifle, strapped to his back. The last stalker was of average height, dressed in a light bulletproof suit, and carried a SVU in his hands.
Time to get the mercs in on his plans, Seth thought. He had brought the best of Freedom from the converted military base in the form of the two stalkers standing at his side. A job like this would require only the best, as leading a full-on expedition of dozens of people into Pripyat was simply incomprehensible.
"Jurgen!" he yelled across the river, "I know you're sitting and watching there somewhere, so pull this damn bridge down before I have to swim across!" he added with a tinge of sarcasm. His visits to the Dead City were common, and usually involved bringing advanced tinkered weaponry of some sort, although this was an entirely different occasion of a very special sort.

Jurgen smiled at the offer from the rookies. "No thanks, Karc, I'd rather not drag your corpses back here for burial," he said, taking out his PDA and connecting it to the rookie's. "You might find some weapons here," he said, marking a location on the PDA on the northern edge of Yantar. "It will be no easy trick to get to them, the tunnels under Yantar are treacherous for even for someone like me," he explained, turning when he heard a yell from the other side of the bridge.
He pulled out his binoculars and looked across the river at the trio. The merc was unfamiliar with the other two stalkers, but they were with an exo-stalker wearing a Freedom exoskeleton. "Seth, you dirtbag! Give me one reason I shouldn't just shoot you right now!" Jurgen yelled back, hefting his rifle to his shoulder and looking through the ACOG scope. "Take your helmet off so I can verify!" he yelled, signaling to another merc to make ready with the bridge.

Karc thought about it, it was true, he was a good shot, and he'd made it this far into the zone without anyone ever noticing him. Eventually deciding to chance the zone again, "Alright, I know a path that will cut our travel time down considerably." After hearing Jurgen's reply and the stash info he replied, "Thanks, Ill see you later." adding hastily "Maybe." Looking up there were 3 Freedom troops on the other side of the bridge.
Turning to Torch while holding his PDA, "We got some info for some gear in Yantar, however we had better get out of here. I don't want to get involved with these guys." Karc said watching them intently. Obviously they weren't lost they knew Jurgen. "We'll take the other way down to Yantar. No one normally uses it so we'll be safe."

Seth sighed. The mercenaries always had to be so difficult with things instead of just giving a straightforward response.
He pulled down his visor and took aim with his SVU. Before the mercs could react, he fired two quick shots at the winch holding the bridge aloft. The steel cords released instantly, and with a great clangor, the bridge fell the rest of the distance to the other end of the river, reverberating slightly before settling into position.
"That verification enough for you?!" He shouted across the closed gap, instantly dropping down with his companions away from the hail of 5.45x45mm rounds that suddenly began landing in great quantities in unreasonable proximity to them. "Alright, alright!" he conceded amidst the hail of bullets "I'll pay for the damn winch!"

Karc threw himself to the ground, almost every Merc in the base had popped up from seemingly nowhere and began firing towards the 3 men on the other side other bridge. He crawled away from the firing checking to make sure Torch was following. "This is insane."

"All i need now is a bullet to the head from those three.." Lets leg it,this ain't our battle..."-said Torch to Karc while he was following..
"I wonder what they want? A friendly game of poker or a bullet from the Mercs...What were they thinking? Charging in like that, shouting and all at a well fortified base? Damn psychos if you ask me.." "But it ain't my problem anymore..."-said Torch when they left the base. The two arrived in Yantar...."Well,we're here, lead on..."-said Torch to Karc

He watched as the Freedom leader hefted his rifle. What the hell does he think he'll accomplish by shooting me? he thought, diving for cover when Seth fired and wrecked the locking mechanism for the drawbridge. It fell and bounced, the clang of metal on concrete was deafening. He looked up and steadied his arm on the sandbag barricade.
Someone started shooting and the rest of the guards quickly joined in, Jurgen found himself firing off a few rounds in annoyance before he stood up. "Cease fire!" he shouted over the din of gunfire, but no one stopped. He rolled his eyes and changed mags before crouching down behind his barricade. With all the noise, the boss would show up soon.

The echo of gunfire eventually faded as Karc and Torch ran towards Yantar they passed. They arrived at Yantar over looking the valley it was quiet. "I wonder what that was about? Certainly seems like a stupid way to enter the base." Karc said quietly. He didn't want to draw attention to his location. Looking on his PDA and noted the location Jurgen had shown him. "So, do you want to hunt zombies and artifacts or should we try our luck in the old factory to get this equipment from the old tunnels?" Karc asked Torch either way would probably make a fairly good profit.

"Lets go with the zombies, who knows what could be waiting for us in the factory...And if we're lucky enough, one of the zombies might be carrying something of value,i could sure use binoculars,or a grenade..."-said Torch as he was looking around for some zombies...
Then, the two heard some mourning(do zombies do that or did i put a wrong word here).."Its coming from down there!"-Torch said as the they started running..The two hid in a bush that was overlooking a swamp crawling with zombies...
"Well time to earn my keep!"-said Torch and jumped out of the bush shooting at the zombies... Karc jumped in immediately and the zombies didn't know what hit 'em ,they were falling down easy...Then they started shooting at the two..Torch and Karc backed up a bit and used a nearby car body shell as a cover.."Like shooting squid in a barrel,huh?"-said Torch to Karc and smiled...

The gunfire didn't seem to stop. It seemed that every merc was intent on emptying every single one of his mags into the area around the three Freedomers. Seth settled deeper into the ditch by the bridge, the outside rim of which was now well-frayed by the nonstop gunfire.
"Alright you two," he spoke to the two men beside him "stay put, or try to get some cover, just don't shoot back! I'll try to get someone who can calm this place down. I doubt the mercenaries are actually going to kill you both. Otherwise, they won't see another enhanced liquid armor suit ever again, and I doubt their leaders will be too happy with that, broken bridge or not."
He waited for a slight break in the firestorm, as around half of the mercs switched magazines yet again. Quickly he jumped up and bolted for the forest, taking cover behind small shrubs and rusted car bodies. A single bullet grazed the back plate of his suit and bounced off at a slight angle as the liquid dilatant hardened under the pressure. Out of the corner of his eye he could see the two Freedomers jump up too, sprinting for the small shack near the downed bridge.
Finally, he reached the edge of the forest, out of the mercenaries' range. Hopefully, they would come to their senses and stop firing at the two stalkers holed up in the shack near the bridge. With no time to waste, he began to run in the direction of Lake Yantar.
