Ok an MMO is stand for massively multiplayer online game and is just a general term for any online video game that has more the one player. What dim is talking about is a MMOFPS (massively multiplayer online first-person shooter) In a MMOFPS you also don't grind or level up.So think more along the lines of halo or counter strike.
I would like to see GSC start a new story line that answers the plot holes in between the three games. A co-oping feature might be nice but 'm not sure if it would kill the atmosphere and the feeling that the games give the player.

Dim, when I wrote that post, I wasn't referring only to your statements. You didn't say anything about more RPG, but Fusebox did. I was reflecting on everything I read in the last posts which in short was: I want more RPG; I want MMO. Maybe I said it wrong when I said why do "you guys" make it a WOW. And no, I do not assume MMO=WOW but after summing up what what each of you said I realized what Stalker might become if it would have both of those(MMO, RPG). And I know what MMO is, and its the worst thing for stalker; it may be good for call of duty, but not for Stalker. Once the developers start to focus on multiplayer, singleplayer becomes shit. Its exactly what happened with Battlefield; it just got worse with every game that came out. And yes, the atmosphere wasn't as good in the last 2 games but it can be made better... of course multiplayer is like the worst thing you can do to fix it. Anyway, I might be wrong, but I will never try a multiplayer stalker. I really don't see why it should exist. Why do we even discuss about multiplayer ... this isn't going to fix anything; it's going to make another game out of Stalker which should have a different name.
" We ought to be put against the wall and shot for disappointing you." -thanks for being a smartass.

Anytime.
And I'm not interested in 'fixing' anything. As I've said, this is a completely new theoretical direction that I want to see the series, with all of its atmosphere (as a given) taken in.
I'm not making any pretense whether it will ruin the series for anyone or not, or whether anyone should agree to it. Personally, I could care less.
Whether such a direction would ruin the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series in real life applications whether it would actually be adopted by GSC, this is my ideal for it. I'm not saying it's easily applied, but just the fact that it is multiplayer, in my own opinion, will not ruin the game if the atmosphere is to be kept intact. It's simply a means of sharing the survivalist experience between multiple people.
I'm not saying it's easy to do properly. You brought up some examples that are hardly perfect, stellar gems of games. An idea such as a proper S.T.A.L.K.E.R. MMO which conserves the basic gameplay, atmosphere, etc. may be not only difficult, but nearly impossible to implement right now.
But that doesn't stop me from wanting it to be.

I never said MMO, I just want more control of who my character is. I want to choose how he reacts to things, how he treats different people and different factions beyond simply shooting them or not shooting them, etc.

Ok this shit stinks already. Multi-platform ? Yet another useless crap I'm not interested in. But I sort of understand their desire to do this... i mean.. they want to sell their game after all. If it doesn't affect the PC version in a terrible way then there shouldn't be a problem.
EDIT: actually it will affect the PC version in a terrible way. shit.

GSC is making a furry adaptation of STALKER. Ever wanted to see Strelok as an anthro fox? No? Well too bad, they're making it.

Not happy about the the idea of stalker on xbox. Most xbox owners have a limited attention span unable to deal with stalkers slower pace.

I smell a new ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED coming up in your signature if that's the case.
And probably the last.

AHAAAHAAAA! Thanks for the post Dim. I was really busy in the last few months but from time to time I come to the old forums (which are new and dead)... the folks at gsc should focus on the damn game instead of making movies. I really wasn't expecting this. I'm not really looking forward to a stalker tv show anyways. I can't see how this could possibly turn up to be good.

Have there even been any updates on that thing since we found it?
I can't imagine it being any better than the fan-mades already out there. Stalker just isn't movie material IMO.
I do agree they should focus on the game more, even if it's not sounding too great atm.
