Hey, guys - I had an idea for a mini-mod . . . considering that the "zone survival tips" are rather pointless for long time players, and even kind of n00bish at times, I had thought that creating a list of 100 real tips from experienced players might be a nice little addition . . . and what better place to generate such a list than the long-time regulars of ZSG? I mean, the ZSG is still heralded as the best STALKER info site, and we've had countless 1337 users here as regulars who know the game quite in depth . . .
So, that being said, if anyone's up for it, post up some good and serious gameplay tips - unusual uses for weapons or equipment, mutant hunting tactics, survivalist theories, etc. Once we have a list of 100 good tips, I'll go ahead and whip them into the game's text files . . . each user will be credited with their quote, too, so no worries there.

This relates to the whole series right?
Reload after each battle to avoid being caught short at a later battle. If unsure of how something will pan out, save or quicksave. If short on money collect excess ammo, or load a perma-corpse with loot and drag it back to a trader.
Things like this?

That needs to be tip 2, Tip 1 should be: Save early and often, in separate named saves. Can perma-corpses be carried across map loads? Do perma-corpses retain the contents you've stashed in them if you leave the map the perma-corpse is on? Jenifur Charne

No, and, yes. Also, perma-corpses are a good way of getting RPG ammo. Look, IMP, do you need general tips or specific tips (like the hidden armors, and whatnot?)

Then listing what the perma-corpses are for each map that does not have a trader would be a very useful follow-on for the tip about how to use perma-corpses. Jenifur Charne

Nearly all named characters are perma-corpses, plus some others (I'll have to fire up vanilla SHOC for this one)

I know one character that can become a perma-corpse, on a map with no trader in SoC is Seiry in Garbage in the damaged train hanger.

Sometimes you have to run away from a fight. Know your weapons and armour.
Unload weapons before selling at the traders to get the most ammo for your own weapons.

If short on money collect excess ammo, or load a perma-corpse with loot and drag it back to a trader. Things like this? Yeah - as long as the tip can apply to CoP, then tips from any of the series will work . . . for example, the perma-corpses . . . except, in CoP, you can not drag bodies (IIRC). Can perma-corpses be carried across map loads? Do perma-corpses retain the contents you've stashed in them if you leave the map the perma-corpse is on? Jenifur Charne corpses can't be dragged into different maps, but can be typically re-located anywhere on the map they're on. Perma-corpses also act like stash boxes, in that they retain whatever you put in them. Although, I don't think there are many NPCs in CoP that end up being perma-corpses . . . I think even the "unique" NPC corpses are cleared out sooner or later . . . I'll have to double check that. Look, IMP, do you need general tips or specific tips (like the hidden armors, and whatnot?) I was thinking more general . . . and some tips for the more un-experienced players . . . But, I don't really want to give away item or stash locations, as that might be considered spoiler material. Think, tips like: * If you quickly crouch and jump immediately after, you can jump slighlty higher than if you were standing. *Grenades can be useful when encountering groups in tight quarters . . . an enemies first instinct after spotting a grenade is to flee, allowing you to flush foes out from hiding to be taken down quickly while they're unarmed. *Bloodsuckers are easier to spot when engaged over water - although invisible, they still splash water as they move. *Artifacts can escape their anomaly field, to the point where they won't travel back towards it, leaving them to be found in unusual places. Even some comical or "lighthearted" ones would be alright, just to keep things interesting . . . like (taken from a user over at GSC): *The Veles' display might make it look a bit like a motion detector, but it's not a motion detector, it's an artifact detector. Resist the urge to have it out at all times, even if the screen being blank is somehow comforting.

*Don't go looking for a battle (skirt them when possible or snipe from maximum range)
*In vanilla, pistols can be used as a stand in for sniper rifles

Well, if you're quoting, I'll have to get into character... To be credited to "Stojespal": "Integral silencer always make quieter than add-ons."* "When ignore dog for enemy, dog eat for days." "Wodker make short trip long adventure. More wodker, more longer and more adventure." (Seriously, drink like 10-20, it's great. XD) "Stalker who forget behind him when backpedals while shoots, forget nothing else." "Single shot for hit long distance. 2-burst for kill long distance. 3-burst for kill close. Auto for fun." "Bullet is cheap. Lots of bullet, expensive. But Stalker who try make conserving the ammunitions die rich man." "If enemy stop shooting, is flanking." "In zona only, when is doubting? Shoot. The bullet hit on accident make the hurting too. Oh, if still doubt? Run." "Before fight, Stoja kill more man with grenade. Among fight, Sto kill more man because of grenade." (IE, in a fight grenades are often more useful for flushing enemies out of cover than for killing them. So much so that playing any other game with grenades can make you laugh at how long people stick around them! Segues with Reign's.) "Is different of armor and gun? Man with no gun, no kill you. Man with no armor? Still kill you. Shoot him first." "Gun Stalker sell to Rookie sometime save the life of Stalker. Gun selling to Trader never save the life." (Seriously... watching a Newbie Camp with SIGs, Chasers, and Exoskeletons at work is a trap fully worth the trouble of luring a patrol into. This is probably part of the reason behind all the upgrade systems in later games. ) "Tragedy is when I shooting at you and dog bite me. Comedy when you shooting at me and boar kill you." (Apologies to Mel Brooks, should imply the tactical and comedic implications of leveraging the local fauna) To be credited to "Old Painless and the Box O Truth": "Rifles are rifles and pistols are pistols." To be credited to "JB": "Use grenades intellegently. A grenade dropped in the center of a pack of clustered bandits often wipes out the whole pack." *=Only played SoC. Is especially relevant with any mod that fixes the body-drop noise level. Don't know about CS/CoP and their mod systems at all.

Always try and force enemy stalkers/mercs/bandits into a bottleneck. The AI will often send single enemies out one at a time and you can easily pick them off with headshots as they run out.

Twig and two of the mercs in the Jupiter factory entrance do not dissapear, AFAIK. But corpses cannot be dragged... And I'm not certain that farming will work in CoP.

Reload after each battle to avoid being caught short at a later battle. Won't doing that mean you have to re do the battle you just completed? *mutter grumble* When I made that reply to Karc's post, I thought he was talking about reloading a saved game. Just realized he was talking about making sure your weapons were reloaded. If Karc's tip is to be included, then it'll have to be made clear that it's about reloading weapons and not reloading a saved game. Jenifur Charne
