Back Story: Not your run of the mill Slavic stalker, Maginot, known as Yves Castel outside the Zone, was born in the South of France, Aix-en-Provence. He spent a relatively quiet, sheltered childhood in Provence, whiling away his days under Provence's sun. When he turned 20, he travelled around the world, going to places like Vietnam, Australia, South America, Africa and finally Russia. His life was jolted by the death of his father, followed by his mother's descent into alcoholism.
Yves unsuccessfully attended courses at university before turning to small time, poorly paid jobs in the neighbouring city of Marseille. A few years later, his mother died from an alcohol related liver disease, and this sad end, combined with his precarious social situation, made the young man fall into alcoholism himself.
His twenties faded away with booze and a quick succession of poor lodgings and badly paid work, until he snapped out of this daze when he turned 29.
He tried to get his life back on track, but the weight of his wasted years stopped him from getting back up the slope. After a long, and unsuccessful struggle, Yves began to look elsewhere. He finally turned his attention to the Zone, which was covered regularly, if fleetingly, by French news, and decided to go there and see if he could make it there. He went to Ukraine and managed to sneak past the military patrols around the Zone's perimetre, crawling through mud, bushes, mine fields and barbed wire before reaching the Cordon, where he got his nickname "Maginot" from the famous WW2 fortifications built along the Franco-Belgian border, due to the fact he had gotten through a particularly heavily fortified area of the Zone's perimetre.
Following the former Freedom Leader Seth's death, Maginot received leadership over the faction due to his anarchistic tendencies, as well as being the only person near the dying Freedomer to receive the position.
