Physical Description:
Of pretty short stature, she is very pale and always looks tired and weak. Her hair is white and tied up into a ponytail.
Back Story:
Born in Belarus, Balalaïka prefers not to talk about her childhood and life in her country, so not much is known about it except for the fact her father was a Red Army sniper who was awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union during his service in Afghanistan. He died of lung cancer some time before 2012, and Balalaïka, after doing a few odd jobs in her own country, she ended up getting tricked into a prostitution ring. She was abused for several months by her clients and "owners" before being sent off to work the streets in Western Europe, but before they were able to ship her off like some cheap merchandise, Balalaïka snapped.
She managed to escape her captors and took her father's SVD before taking position on a roof near the building she had been imprisoned in. All the thugs who were part of the prostitution ring were slaughtered by her, and she was then forced to escape her country for fear of retribution. The Zone being near the border with Belarus, Balalaïka promptly went there.
Update:
After entering the Zone, Balalaika found that life there was not easy. The Cordon was under increased pressure from mutant attacks, and one night Balalaika's group were attacked by snorks. The survivors made their way back to the village, only to be attacked again a few hours later by a large herd of boars.
After witnessing all these bloody mutant attacks, the radiation and the anomalies, Balalaika began to have Duty sympathies. After another week spent in the Cordon, she headed north by herself. After crossing the Garbage and almost getting mugged by bandits, she was allowed to enter Rostok. There, she was summoned by Voronin, who gave her an almost impossible mission for a rookie to fulfill: kill Freedom's Commandant.
With this in mind, Balalaika headed north to the Warehouses. There she joined up with another assassin and a somewhat pathetic bandit, and the trio set off after Adder.
Needless to say, Balalaika failed to kill Adder. Her scruples got the best of her, allowing Adder to take the young stalker prisoner. While being held prisoner by the Commandant, something began to change in Balalaika's mind, a change that exploded into being when she tried to kill Adder again. This attempt also failed, and ended with Balalaika's mutilation by some unknown corrosive chemical. It seems that moment was when the young stalker fell into a particularly murderous streak of insanity.
After escaping to Yantar, Balalaika did a few jobs for the scientists. During one such job she betrayed and almost killed Karcentric, stealing Ghost's stalker suit in the process. Her collaboration with the scientists ended poorly, and she left Yantar for the Red Forest.
During that time Balalaika had a murderous and irrational obsession with Adder, and attempted to murder her several times. Each attempt ended in failure, driving her deeper and deeper into a more dysfunctional madness that left her alienated from the rest of the Zone. Hounded by loners, Duty and Freedom alike, Balalaika retreated north to Jupiter. It was there that Adder finally cornered and captured her before losing her again when an emission caught the party unawares. During that emission, Balalaika experienced an unknown psychic phenomena that effectively erased her insanity and former personality.
Now Balalaika is living in Yanov, unbeknownst to her former enemies. She has cast away her old name, renaming herself "Blank". She has also started to have doubts about her former madness, and is beginning to think there may have been more to it than she originally thought...
