Just felt like putting some pictures up of where the current firefight is taking place. I'll be adding to this as inspiration strikes me, so keep watching ^^
Nearing the gate, I couldn't help but notice the way it had been "opened." The stains on the ground, the casings left behind, and even the bullet holes, told me that things were going to be difficult from here on.
Once on the other side of the gate, I was surprised at how empty it looked, at least at first glance.
Duty told me there was Merc snipers up ahead, so I took cover behind a nearby tree. I couldn't really see anything, but I kept out of sight just the same.
Some loners came in with Duty, our orders were to stop them, but they all scattered like cockroaches. We held our fire, if they got close, we'd take them out, but at this point it didn't really matter.
We moved up quickly under the cover of darkness and waited for the signal. They didn't see us, the joke was on them. Fools, all of them...
They told us to scavenge the area and to take their rifles. I was amazed when I looked through the scope. It wasn't like any of the rifles I shot back in Warsaw, but it would still be helpful.
We moved past the tunnel and out into the atrium of the Wild Territory. Up ahead was a pack of snorks, although, no one was really worried about them because we weren't taking that route...
I watched the snorks for a while, waiting for the rookies to get beyond the barrier. I was supposed to... oh god.... NO! AAAARGH!!!!
We followed the tracks for a while before splitting up. I couldn't shake the feeling that someone or something was following us.
Half of us went around through what was left of the station. We knew there were those stinking Mercs in the area, but the station gave us plenty of cover.
The rest of us went around and shot down a chopper. We didn't know it at first, but it was the wrong one.
I sneaked away from the rest of the group, I wanted to explore on my own some. It wasn't like I couldn't run back to the group anyway. There was enough of them that... wait... what was that...? What the hell!?
We were checking out the downed chopper when we realized our mistake. There wasn't much time to work out what happened though, because we quickly found ourselves under attack by a pack of snorks.
In the tunnel there was a soft blue glow, it was so hypnotic, but at the same time so foreboding. I watched several other loners brave the electros in the tunnel to gather their prizes, I just snatched up the few near the entrance.
We were near the helicopter when all hell broke loose. Someone was shooting at us. I wasn't able to tell who though. After it stopped, I picked up a comm intercept. I didn't know any of the names being spoken, but it sounded to me like they were interested in stopping only Duty.
As we neared the construction site, I was able to see movement throughout it, they were all scattering, looking for cover from our group. I was worried a fight was going to break out, but everyone seemed to be in high spirits, even the Duty party we were with. They obviously didn't see any threat from the Mercs, not yet... anyway...
We watched as they approached, although it seemed we only outnumbered them by one man, I knew there was others waiting to ambush them if they got past us. I cocked my heavy machine gun but held my fire. The loners that went to Yantar always died there, so it didn't matter if they slipped past us. It was Duty we were worried about...
I took up cover here. It was directly across from the big merc with the exo. He didn't seem too concerned with me though. I could see the others getting into position. At first I'd wanted to move, but I had my orders from Duty.
At first I took up cover near an abandoned railcar that was a fair distance from the action, but it quickly became apparent that I was vulnerable there, so I moved closer after taking out two snipers on the roof. At least that released SOME of the pressure on my companions.
After moving, I was able to keep a better watch on the backside of the action. Two loners moved past me toward the crane, although I didn't know their names. One was a woman, the other a man. I knew they were french, but that was all. I held my fire and simply waited for an opening.
Things were getting ugly quickly, all I could do was watch the shoot out. I hadn't been prepared for the attack like I would have been on other days. Two of our guys were already down thanks to some loner near the railcars. I could hear that huge merc's machine gun, it was reassuring. As long as he didn't go down, we stood a chance.
I heard explosions and gunshots somewhere nearby, which sent me scampering for a new hiding place. What was going on? Were the mercs throwing grenades? What about Duty? Maybe it was those two loners that had passed me? Whatever the case, more gunfire erupted as the merc with the exoskeleton stopped shooting for a moment.
There was an explosion nearby... it was all blurry and my ears were ringing... I remember running then falling... I looked back at the crane... he seemed all right, but his face was bleeding. I fumbled for my AK, but I couldn't find it...
I heard something land near us, I wasn't sure what it was until a deafening explosion filled the air. I could feel the heat, then a sharp pain on my face an arm. I could feel a wet coolness running down my face. I looked over my shoulder, but she was gone. I looked around and found her near some pipes.
Some guy, a Dutier, and I spent the night here. The Dutier seemed friendly enough, but he kept looking over at me. I didn't know what time it was, but the other guy pulled me aside and offered to help me.
We made out way through the Burner Tunnel, stopping near the entrance to modify my "new" exoskeleton.
I called out on my PDA, but there was no one around, it seemed that something had killed them before I was able to get their help...
We moved through the Burner Tunnel, everyone stopping to gather up the large number of artifacts that had collected there.
Beyond the tunnel we found a group of Merc corpses, they had been killed by Bloodsuckers. I was nervous, worried another would ambush us like before.
Finally, we reached Yantar. The vegetation in the area seemed like it was struggling to survive.
