Hi all, As I have no skills in the Russian or Ukranian languages, I am in dire need of someone to help me translate a bunch of signs and audio clips from Call of Pripyat. I already have one working on them, but his english is not that good unfortunately, and he is in doubt about some of the words. He's done a good job so far, I but I think that a second set of eyes and ears could help alot. I'm working on a translations page for the Zone Survival Guide: Call of Pripyat: cop.zsg.dkIf you would like to help, or know someone that I could ask, please leave a reply or get in touch with me. Thank you!

I am fluent in both English and Russian. You know my e-mail. I sent you a couple of e-mails... hope you got them, and I didn't sound to bossy - I am merely excited to see the translations going forward I have added the translations for the signs to the page, so you should be able to see them. Thanks for the effort so far, you've helped me out alot already. PS: I've tried to login three times now and it still thinks I'm not logged in when I reply... am I bugged, or is it the forum software?

Haven't had any sort login problem on PB's forum engine in the two years I've been using it, although that doesn't mean it's impossible.
Were you skipping back to the thread page after logging in, or did you actually refresh it?
Thanks for the audio files - I wasn't able to play from either Firefox, Chrome, or IE, so that was a great help. I'll begin with the translations for the audio now and hopefully finish them soon.

Were you skipping back to the thread page after logging in, or did you actually refresh it? I haven't had problems before either, well until yesterday... but today it seems fine. Perhaps it was a bad cookie or something. Anyways, I'm glad you got the audio files... I hope it's not too much work. I might add some more - if you're up for the task - as there's plenty of conversations, etc. that I miss - not that the aim is to include every single line of speech, but I guess some more "situations" that would be interesting to include.

You've got the bulk of them. There's a couple of Laundromat soldier jokes (which no one will probably understand) I've heard before in-game that are missing. But I think the sound files cover the majority of the loner, Duty, and Freedom dialogues.
It's a pain to translate combat dialogue though - the statements tend to reflect the AI disposition of squad leaders, so when there's a bunch of squads in one area, it tends to get jumbled together and not make sense, a la the bloodsucker attack on Freedom.
One squad is fighting the beast, which is plainly heard, whereas the other is just chilling without helping them apparently. The only real cue anyone needs to know is the word 'granata!', which implies something terrible is heading your way. Otherwise, it's a generic slew of yells tied in with the individual stalkers' AI behavior which can get very chaotic in large battles.
There's surprisingly little repetition in the audio files though, and you nailed the beginning and end of almost every conversation or monologue perfectly, which makes the job a good deal easier.

Ah, good to know that they cover alot of the dialogue... perhaps I don't need that many more - at least not for now. I think with the signs and the audio currently on "the page" it'll provide a good variety of things people would want to see translated. I can understand that it is hard to translate combat dialogue, and I guess the point was never to get the feeling what a firefight sounds like as a whole, but more what they actually shout during one. And you're absolutely right about the Freedom vs. Bloodsucker clip... one of the Freedom guys were fighting while another was almost passive the entire time, sitting nearby on lookout. I'm glad there's little repetition - that's one of the really hard parts. When you don't understand what's being said, discovering "duplicates" is very difficult, and I was merely hoping that there weren't too many of them. It's nice to hear that I somehow managed to keep most of them "unique". And the beginning/end timing wasn't too hard... just wait for a certain amount of silence before the start and after the end... I didn't know if it would work, but it seems like it has paid off But taping the audio in general is a bit weird since I have no idea what they're saying... it's easy to recognize a joke because of the laughing, but beyond that I'm pretty much clueless. I just hope I'm catching some good stuff I can't wait to see the results and get them on the page! I really appreciate your help, and I trust alot of people will find the translations interesting in one way or the other... I know I do!
