I started playing CoP recently with the expectation of "this is just another sort of 3D rail shooter like Clear Sky". But no it isn't. The levels are interesting and the missions are very varied. And what I like even more are those open bunkers and tunnels. I mean I was at Jupiter and at the first time I found one of those underground entrances I thought "Ah yeah, surely you can't go in there because it's suppossed to be used for a mission first". But I was wrong. I could just go in there and I just loved the whole feeling of walking through those narrow corridors, not knowing what will expect me. To be honest, I even always was like "Why the hell I even entered this place", but then I was like "Maybe I'll find valuable items and artifacts". I think this even might be the feeling a real Stalker gets when entering such a place.
The only thing which Call of Pripyat lacks of are levels. But maybe just because of this lack the quality of CoP is so amazing.

It certainly was a pleasant surprise compared to CS, it gives you a lot of freedom to explore unlike CS which was rather linear. I found the levels large enough so that there didn't have to be many and they weren't jammed with stalkers which nice, the only downsides were the voice acting, and the fact that some mutants were seemly bullet proof.

Yea I agree on the voice acting. I also hated it that my copy of CoP wasn't even billingual. So I wasn't even able to get the (probably a bit better) English or Russian translation.
Anyways, might it be that some of the scripts in the game are bugged? Since I was sure that I tried to take Strider with me to Pripyat, but I can't remember him saying anything else "Have you asked the Stalkers at Yanov station yet?".
