Physical Description:
Peregrine is of fairly average height, and has a rather slight but athletic frame. His hair has a feathery look to it, making him look rather reminiscent to the bird of his name.
Like his brother, Peregrine is endowed with uncannily quick reflexes and is very, very fast and agile, as well as a covert runner and climber. However, unlike Kirill, this physical skill has never truly been applied with a gun, and he has never to date managed to train himself to kill.
Background:
Peregrine was born to Russian parents in the separatist state of Chechnya, and was shortly abandoned at six years of age alongside his brother Kirill, who was sixteen at the time. Dmitri's older brother now found himself in the rather unfavorable position of a civilian living in a brutal and unrelenting warzone of a territory, and one having to take care of a younger sibling to boot. Nevertheless, Kirill took up the responsibility of raising his brother to the best of his ability, and taught him to survive in one of the most unforgiving places on the planet at the time.
Due to his uncanny semblance to a hawk, Dmitri gained the nickname 'Peregrine' from his brother and the circles of friends, ferals, and thieves that they slowly found themselves amongst. For a time, the two had found a way to not only survive, but thrive, and truly be free despite their all-but-enviable condtion.
However, as time passed and Dmitri Malygin slowly matured, certain irreconciliable differences began to slowly take root between him and his guardian - the beginnings of a growing rift that would soon tear them from one another.
Kirill's unbelievable success at staying alive came from bitterness, amorality, and hatred that he had inherited from his young years, and that had come to the surface when he and his brother had been abandoned. Peregrine, then too young to understand, had never been consumed by this hatred. Eventually, this disparity in personality forced the two to split, when Peregrine refused to commit the ultimate sin - murder - for the sake of their well-being at the order of his brother. Like he and Kirill had been abandoned by their parents, Peregrine now fled from his only protector. He would never see him again.
His brother, alone and crushed, left Chechnya several months later, and would soon arrive to the Zone, where he became known under an entirely different name.
Eventually, as he came of age, Peregrine slowly sank into more and more guilt for what he had done. Soon, this guilt for inflicting the same kind of pain on the single being closest to him that had caused Kirill to delve into depravity in the first place overpowered him, and Peregrine sought to reunite with his brother, hoping some shred of good still remained within him.
Peregrine gathered his resources, and began his search. Having gained some reputation amongst underground circles, he discovered that Kirill had left west, to the Zone. Having bought sufficient gear with the little money he had, Peregrine set out and arrived at the Cordon several weeks later in the hopes of finding his brother still alive.
