Physical Description: Quite average in build and height, Midas is hardly a conspicuous face to those who do not know him by his profession. He wears his graying hair mid-length, and is typically clad in a formal grayish blue suit when inside the base of the Dead City, and only dons his mercenary suit when leaving the compound, a rare occurrence.
Back Story: Born a Greek, Midas' rise to prominence in Europe came with his unconditional induction into an international crime syndicate during a brief stay in Italy. Not being by nature a true leader or hit man, he became a weapons dealer and a '6', or an emissary of his family to other Mafias. He quickly gained a solid reputation due to the 'integrity' his dealings ensured, and soon, the syndicate rose to new heights in peddling weaponry, illicit substances, and many other sorts of questionable activity.
Unfortunately, this rise to prominence bred more attention of an entirely unwanted sort - that of the authorities. Despite its attempts to secure its clandestine status, the syndicate was discovered and revealed. In a brief crackdown, most of the mafioso leaders were quickly disposed of. Midas was one of the few lucky ones to escape capture.
Having cannibalized the disorganized and quickly disintegrating resources of the syndicate, Midas was left with sufficient funds, but no cover whatsoever to continue his business. Realizing that staying in central Europe would be much too conspicuous, and with the authorities still searching for any remnants of the crime family, he decided to seek new markets for his trade. It was then that one of his many contacts told the Greek about the situation in the mysterious region in Ukraine known as the Zone.
It didn't take long for Midas to figure out that the war-torn, irradiated battleground in which man fought mutant and man alike was exactly the new market he was seeking. Not to mention it helped that organized crime had its own roots there as well. A single fat deal later with the mercenary faction involving a considerable amount of the latest weaponry, and he was in for good.
Now a mercenary figurehead, Midas deals with selling, trading, and collecting various unique and extremely expensive pieces of equipment, and unique artifacts to boot.
Midas is a passive, calculating, and cunning persona, and as such, has a certain degree when it comes to running his trade. The mercenary can be extremely persuasive in convincing stalkers to either find and retrieve a rare piece of equipment or, as an alternative, into buying one. Midas is by no means frugal in his trade, but neither reserved, and thus, stalkers can expect to earn more than a few rubles through dealings and jobs for him.
Although he is not a real warrior himself, he prefers to use stalkers as proxies to his schemes and is not hesitant to put aside any moral quandaries in order to attain his goals. As a result of these manipulations, the ends of many stalkers now underground were never linked to Midas himself.
