Rurik eventually came to, his head felt at though it was cracked in two, coughing brought up a large clot of blood. Sitting up he saw that Khan and Lutiy were gone, looking at the pistol he had taken, it all came back in a series of flashes. Chucking the Beretta away Rurik forced his mind to clear despite the pain, Victor and Sigbrand had been below somewhere, Adder had appeared near where Khan had. Chaos had been lost in the confusion. Standing proved harder then it should of, Rurik's balance was off badly, pushing himself to his feet Rurik shook his head and marched slowly down towards his group was. Victor was standing, as was Adder. Sigbrand was still slouching against a tree, and Maginot was sitting nearby. It looked as if Victor was questioning Adder.
As he approached, he caught the last part of her statement, "...I can assure you that there have been no negative or dangerous effects so far." She said to Victor, "Regarding what?" He rasped, blood had clogged his throat, taking his mask off he spat a largish ball of blood out and wiped his face. Adder spun facing Rurik, looking down to avert he eyes before looking back again, Rurik jumped back a step when he saw the reptilian color and shape of her eyes. Looking away, Rurik thought it through, despite the splitting headache it made sense in his head, her eyes had been changed when the blowout hit, but what Rurik couldn't figure out was how it changed her eyes from so far away. Scoffing at an idea, Rurik turned back to Adder and the group. "Are you all alright?" he asked, "Also did anyone see Chaos?"
Kneeling by Sigbrand he asked quietly about what had happened, after the young man told him and his pledge to cleanse the zone, Rurik put his hand on his shoulder and said "I'll do what I can to aid you in this quest, Sergent." Rurik stood helping Sigbrand up, reattaching his mask and said to the group, "It's time to move, we head for the Limansk, hopefully the mercs a managing to hold off the monolith. If we help fight them off they may give us access to their base."

Lutiy felt a cool breath of air wash over him as Khan tore open the gate into the catacombs underneath the sewers. He could smell the sweet, familiar smell of decay even through his mask.
He was beginning to like this place.
"Feels like home." he muttered, jumping into the darkness after Khan. He heard a slight hiss behind him, back in the sewers. The bandit whipped around, his new gun cocked at the thing trailing them.
It was a massive black bloodsucker, easily seven feet tall. The creature's eyes glowed deep in their sockets, glaring murderously at the intruders. The monster was not cloaked, and looked as if it was ready to attack. Leaning forward, it let out a roar, spraying flecks of dissolvent saliva is its tentacles flapped about.
Lutiy did not flinch, keeping the sights of the Deagle trained between the creature's eyes. The sucker, despite the barrel trained at its head, seemed almost ready to lunge at the bandit, the only thing separating the two being the hole into the catacombs.
Finally, the creature tossed its head in a curious manner, and quickly ran off in the direction it came from, cloaking itself from the human eye. Lutiy turned away from the entrance, closing the door shut. He could not shake the feeling that the monster was almost afraid of the place, and was trying to cow them into leaving, seemingly warning them.
Giving little more thought to the matter, he followed the guide as they began to walk through the underground passages.
Victor studied the woman's face, taking in her explanation. He could see no indication that the woman was lying, although he read absolutely nothing at all in the still black slits of her eyes. Something was wrong here, he thought. But trying to dig through to the root of the matter would be useless.
"Also did anyone see Chaos?" he heard Rurik ask. Victor seemed to remember the loner entering the sewers, or had he? The medic looked about, but his loner friend was gone, apparently separated and taken by the underground along with Harmund. Checking his PDA, he could not find Chaos's signal.
"He's gone." he said shakily. In hardly half an hour, the entire squad had lost two good men. Limansk was proving as dangerous as Khan had warned them.
Finally, he heard the Lieutenant give the order to head out towards Limansk. The stalkers rose, having recovered somewhat from the trauma inflicted on all of them underground. In the distance, Victor could see scores of Monolith soldiers converging on what must have be the Dead City. Drawing his AS VAL, he followed the Duty leader, preparing to engage the enemy.

"I see our friend hates this place as much as I do. Now...My God."
Khan crouched, trying to examine something that resembled a heap of bloody flesh, literally torn apart.
"Whatever lives down here, doesn't like anybody intruding on it's territory, which, incidentally, we ourselves are doing."
They continued through the eerie, decrepit tunnels, Khan occasionally stopping to examine a corpse or a mysterious blood mark
"Strange...Nothing in this monstrous place died the same way...This one was shot, and bled out."
He prodded the corpse dressed in green.
"This one...Burned. I have no idea what or who might have done this...Incidentally...This one is not old. It could not have been laying here for more than a week"
A corpse in a Beril-5 suit was pinned to the wall with a heavy, rusted pipe lodged in it's stomach while another corpse in a shredded scientist suit had seemingly been half-eaten.
"These marks are unlike anything I have ever seen...Another reason to worry"
They passed through a small door into a large, eerie chamber.
"Kiril, I do not want to sound afraid, but there is something otherworldly watching us here. For a moment, I thought I had seen somebody standing on that ledge, staring at me with a void-like gaze. As soon as I blinked, he disappeared. I also heard a strange, otherworldly noise...Whispering of the dead. I do not like where this is going."

Lutiy twisted his head to get a better look at the area they were. It was a huge, round chamber, the domed ceiling some thirty or so meters above them, a single small hole in its apex flooding the center of the room with light from aboveground. He saw another, identical doorway diametrically opposed from where they had entered, around a hundred meters ahead. Something fist-sized lay in the center of the room, in the center of the circle of light but Lutiy could not make out its exact shape.
I do not like where this is going." the bandit heard Khan say as the guide walked into the room. Lutiy holstered his empty sidearm, drawing the AK-74 strapped to his back.
He stepped forward into the room. Instantly, he could hear the grinding of some unseen mechanism rumble, shaking the entire chamber. A massive stone door dropped down across the portal from which he had entered, sealing the entrance. A sudden silence fell over the area.
"Well," he said "I guess we've been invited." Lutiy smirked, glancing around the room. He slowly became aware of a slow, steady pounding that seemed to reverberate across the entire chamber. The sound somehow seemed elusively familiar to the bandit. He did not hear the 'whisperings' Khan had mentioned, and neither had he seen the mysterious shadow figure Khan had encountered.
He slowly set off across the through its center towards the other end. Something about the place unnerved him more than the bloodstained halls they had passed through a minute earlier. As he made his way to the center, he got a better glimpse of the small object lying on the floor. Lutiy's eyes widened as he realized what it was, and what the source of the slow pounding had been.
It was a human heart, still twitching.

"What sick freak did this? Lutiy, I have a feeling that we are about to face something much more powerful than the either of us. The only viable solution is that we run, and that we do it fast."
The bandit just nodded, looking at the beating heart. Khan was about to move when a shadow zipped over the room. He stopped, only to see another shadow flashing over the wall. He closed his eyes and started praying again. Whenever he opened his eyes, another shadow flashed. They were becoming slower and slower as the two stalkers moved out through another tunnel
"These are...There is nothing living in here besides us. Lutiy, move! The more I stand here, the less do I feel comfortable."
They continued. Khan threw glances, only to see more shades flickering behind them. Picking up the pace, he noticed that the shades sped up as well. They started running, only to stop paralyzed when a bloodcurdling roar broke through the tunnels. Khan started to sweat. He was not afraid, but the sheer atmosphere of the place was...awful. As he turned, he was face-to-face with a disfigured old man. He felt an incredible pain in his head and collapsed onto the ground. He only managed to pass
"...salts..."
before finally collapsing on the ground. His fall echoed throughout the dank, chilling tunnels. There was no one alive in those tunnels besides them.

Without pausing to draw breath, Lutiy smashed the capsule Khan gave him, inhaling some of the contents before throwing the rest at the man's face. He could hear clear voices in his head, cackling as shadows danced around him. He thought he saw a figure move through the darkness as he pulled the recovering guide up and began to run down the tunnel leading to the exit. The voices were maniacal, echoing about his cranium, but evidently held no more psychic effect, as did the salt. Finally, he saw a light ahead. He put on even more speed, pulling Khan through behind him and grabbing a single Vintorez off of an eviscerated body to his right. Suddenly, he stopped. The voices disappeared, as did the shades around him. He could only feel the presence of a single entity, but all-powerful. And he knew what it was. The corridor ahead flickered with bluish light, streaming in from a bend in the tunnel. As he slowly walked down the tunnel, Lutiy discerned a powerful, almost godlike voice. Find it. Take it. Secure me. Destroy the rest. it spoke clearly, resonating within the bandit's head. The Monolith, Lutiy thought, it was here, within this very underground, it was what had driven the shades away. Slowly, he removed the magazine from the rifle he had picked up, emptying it and slotting the 9x39 SP-6 rounds into his Desert Eagle. Setting Khan down, he made a 'quiet' sign with his hand, and turned the corner. ((Lutiy and Khan's RP continued in Against All Ionized Odds))

Rurik's group continued with their push to get to the Mercenary HQ, the firing was still very intense, lightening slightly, the fanatics weren't expecting anyone to attack from behind The group made short work of each group, after checking to make sure each group was completely wiped out, they would move forward and deal with the next group, they came across a group that had been blown to pieces, it looked like several grenades had gone off together. Checking over the group, Rurik stopped finally the group was worn out, and tired. "Grab something to eat, and have sit down, but try not to doze off, we're not safe yet." he said, crouching and tearing into a loaf of stale bread, after 20 mins he stood up, stretching he looked at his motley crew and said, "It's time to continue."
As they moved along there was a strange sensation, it felt like a severing of some sort but Rurik couldn't fathom what would cause it. A faint shot echoed from nearby, but Rurik had no idea where it was from, after walking for 20 mins, they encountered another monolith squad, but this squad was retreating taking no notice of Rurik or the others. Rurik fired on the squad regardless, they halfheartedly fought back but were to late, and they were subsequently cut down by MG fire, and the groups combined weapons.
Ahead was a river but the bridge that spanned it was destroyed, and all the barges had been taken across to the other side. "Shit, we need to get across, and I don't fancy swimming." He said, there were no other bridges in sight or boats of any kind. Looking around there were several sewer entries, scowling at the thought Rurik sighed and heaved one of the covers off and shone his torch into the hole it was very deep, possibly deep enough for them to use to reach the other side of the river. Lowering himself down the ladder Rurik landed with a splash, sweeping the area with his Groza, turning on the NV on his suit he called for the rest of the group to follow.

The tunnel was very dark, and Maginot did not have any night vision goggles like Rurik so he switched on his head lamp. The bright, electric glare the thing produced almost blinded him, and he switched it off with an annoyed grunt.
The bloody thing will give my position away AND hide any monsters lurking out in the dark...
"I don't need goggles or a light", said Adder, "just grab my hand and I'll guide you."
Maginot took hold of Adder's hand and she lead him forward. His eyes took a while to get used to the darkness, and even then he felt like he was going blind in the obscurity. He felt the need to blink incessantly, as if his eyes were clouded by some substance or other, but the darkness remained, so he gave up trying to see and turned to his other senses.
The sewer smelt damp and moldy, and it was cold as the grave. All around him he could hear the steady dripping of water, the gloomy but faint sound of wind blowing softly through the abandoned concrete tunnels and the ragged but quiet breathing of his companions. The gear and suits of the group also made slight rustling and clicking sounds.
He noticed how smoothly Adder moved through the darkness, and he could barely discern her movements as her head snapped from side to side in the precise way of someone who is fully alert and can see perfectly. The hand he was holding was not covered by her suit's gloves, and he noticed she had pleasantly soft skin.
"-This place gives the creeps...", murmured Maginot. "-No shit, Sherlock", said Adder in an even quiter place. They went past what appeared to be a small drain pipe leading to the outside, letting a bright stream of light into the world of darkness they were in. "-It's pretty incredible how steadily you move through this obscurity", said Maginot. Adder turned to look at him, the light from the pipe catching her eyes and making her irises glow greenly and eerily, sending a shiver down the French stalker's spine. "-Everything is absolutely clear", she said, smiling in a rather disturbing and almost carnivorous way. She seemed to exude a strange, seductive aura that he had never noticed before despite having been her travel companion for several days.
Maginot stopped breathing for a moment as the surrealism of the scene struck home. Here he was in a hostile, alien world surrounded by outlaws and with a woman with the eyes of a snake.
"-C'est absurde...", he muttered with a chuckle.

His second generation night vision easily penetrating through the immediate darkness of the sewers, Victor mad his way through the tunnels after Rurik. The loner clenched his scoped rifle tightly, as he could not help thinking that something was watching them. He took a glance back. Sigbrand was behind him, with Maginot and Adder trailing along the rear of the group. He could dimly detect something new and almost predatory about the woman's stance, however, seeing that her glowing eyes fastened to his own visor, he quietly turned around and continued walking.
Fortunately enough, the battle that had been raging above them scarcely minutes earlier seemed to send every mutant below ground scurrying into their shadowy hiding places. The group made their way through the passages unintercepted. Victor was already beginning to see the light of a passage up ahead when his eyes picked up a shape in his peripheral field of vision. Slowly, he passed the exit and walked over to the dead stalker.
The late Monolithian was wearing a unique suit of armor, seemingly an exoskeleton with the external pneumo-hydraulic cording replaced by a sheath of synthetic muscle that covered its extremities. A hefty looking coilgun was strapped to the Monolithian's back, along with an XM8 prototype rifle. A large bullet hole in the faceplate of the suit's helmet indicated the cause of death, as a sizeable armor piercing round had blasted through the man's cranium. Lying nearby was a VSS Vintorez, emptied of all ammo. Having plenty of sniper and armor piercing rounds from the late Dutiers' supplies, Victor picked up the rifle and reloaded it, slinging it across his back.
"Hey lieutenant! We've got some sort of dead mojo around here!" he yelled to Rurik "some of his guns look pretty damn impressive." Checking the Monolithian's artifact belt, Victor found a Mica and Soul, invaluable artifacts in any medic's arsenal. He pocketed the two anomalous objects, and ceased his search, waiting for Rurik to draw near.

Crouching over the dead Monolithian, Sigbrand examined the strange suit of armor. "This stuff looks like something out a science fiction novel or something."
Pulling the Flash rifle off of the Monolithian's back, Sigbrand took aim at a medium sized rock a fired off a projectile at it. The impact of the 2mm projectile on the rock split it in half and turned a good portion of the center to dust. "Now that's impressive." he muttered. Crouching next to the Monolithian again, Sigbrand pulled an interesting looking artifact from the man's belt. It seemed to be two intertwined strands of beads. When he picked it up, it almost felt as if his skin was toughening slightly. Pocketing the artifact, Sigbrand stood back up. Poiting at a nearby ladder, he said "That looks like it leads to the Dead City itself. There's still some sounds of shouting and gunfire up there, should we risk going up?

Rurik crouched examining the suit it seemed impossible, working to remove sections from around the arms, legs and back, Rurik pulled components from the suit he carefully wrapped them and stuffed them into his pack. "This man was the High Preacher of the monolith, a dangerous person to be around when he's alive. To be honest He's just as unnerving to be near while he's dead." He said looking over the dead man once more. Sigbrand's question roused him "That looks like it leads to the Dead City itself. There's still some sounds of shouting and gunfire up there, should we risk going up?"
Rurik nodded, "Yes we'll go up here, I'll go first just to be safe." Climbing up the ladder Rurik looked around, fire fights were going on all around in small clusters, the Mercenaries were pushing the Monolith back, calling down to his group "Follow me and be careful. Help the mercs where you can." Climbing out of the hole Rurik crouched by the hole, waiting for the other members to emerge.
One of the mercs spied Rurik, shouting "Hey! You get over here and help deal with these crazed bastards!" Rurik jogged to the merc crouching looking to where the Monolith troops were hiding. They had barricaded themselves in a multistory house and were picking off mercenaries. "Use that RPG of yours to slow those bastards down, we'll give you an opportunity just don't miss." the merc said nodding to Rurik, he and 2 other mercs jumped up and fired at the building giving Rurik an opportunity. Standing and aiming Rurik fired for the second floor window, the explosion made the building shake and crumble in several places. Crouching back behind the makeshift barricade Rurik looked at the merc who gave him a thumbs up before rushing to help another group. Rurik looked about, the members of his group were helping different groups fight off the remaining Monolith.

"Hey, you! Redhead and Merc suit guy! Get over here!"
Adder and Maginot left the main group and went over to a small group of mercenaries hiding behind the battered and rusty carcass of an Zap car.
"The freaks are trying to outflank us, and they brought a PKM to that window over there...", as if to prove the merc's words, a burst of machine gun fire slammed into the old car, sending sparks and some bits of rusty metal flying, "we're fucking pinned here, and those freaks will be pouring out of that street corner over there at any moment."
He turned to Adder and Maginot, who were crouching behind the car and clinging to their respective rifles.
"Okay lady, you cover Snork Bait here while he goes for the PTRS rifle over there", said the merc, waving his arm at a small, very battered brick wall where the two loners could see several dead mercs piled around a large sniper-looking rifle, "and you, merc face, you help me try to take that machine gun out. C'mon, let's move!"
Adder and Snork Bait dashed out from behind the car at the same time as Maginot and the squad commander did. Adder and Snork Bait got a healthy dose of machine gun fire, and the merc dropped dead as heavy caliber bullets ripped through his gut and severed his spine.
"-Fuck!" swore Adder. She saw Maginot and the other merc being forced to retreat behind the car. They had been thwarted, and she could already see around twelve Monolithians getting ready to charge out from behind the street corner.
Adder quickly examined the large Soviet anti-tank rifle propped up on what remained of the brick wall. The recoil on it had to be anormous, and the weapon seemed quite inappropriate for such a situation. It also seemed to be out of ammunition.
She sighed and took her Vintorez instead, hoping it would be enough to stop the Monolithians. She checked the magazine and took aim just as the first Monolith trooper emerged from behind the bullet torn street corner.
The Monolithian went down as two others came out. Adder quickly took aim and shot them down with precise shots to the head. She passed her tongue along her teeth as another one fell victim to her Vintorez.
Despite being fanatics, the Monolithians weren't stupid, and the machine gunner redirected his fire at Adder in an attempt to pin her down. Bullets slammed into the brick wall, spraying fragments of brick and dust into the air.
"Damn it!", hissed Adder. She wanted to start shooting at the Monolithians again, as, to her surprise, she was actually enjoying it.
Suddenly, there was the familiar sound of a rocket-propelled grenade flying through the air, as well as the alarmed shouts of what could only be the machine gunner. This was followed by a loud explosion that shook the street they were in, and the silencing of the PKM.
With a sadistic smile, Adder focused her attention on her prey once more. The Monolithians were rapidly running across the street, with their exo-clad leader in their midst. Adder took aim at the leader's vulnerable face and pulled the trigger, sending a bullet slamming through his gas mask's eye piece and into his brain.
The leader stumbled and slammed into the ground like a knocked out giant, but his comrades kept on moving. Soon, Adder's fire was joined by Maginot's and the surviving merc's. Adder took four more fanatics down, whooping when the last one fell, his skull punctured by her shot.
The street fell quiet as the last Monolith soldiers were killed. Adder stepped out from cover and quietly walked over to where the zealots she had shot down lay before crouching down next to their bodies and cutting off their insignia.
Maginot went over to her and saw Adder was smiling in a satisfied manner.
"-What are you doing?", he asked, curious about her cutting off the Monolithian's insignia. "-Collecting trophies", she said with a quiet grin that sent shivers down Maginot's spine.
The smile of a predator...
Adder and Maginot then went through the traditional stalker procedure of looting the corpses. They collected four AK-74 rifles and found an SG 550 on the leader's dead body. Adder got two AK-74 rifles while Maginot got the rest.
After stowing their loot away, they went over to where Rurik stood to await further instructions.

Victor stood up, sending several heavy 9x39mm rounds after the retreating Monolithians from his new Vintorez. The weapon was slightly more accurate than his old rifle, and one of the fanatics dropped, two weighty bullets slamming into the back of his rib cage. The medic saw several mercs catch up to him and finish him off cleanly with a pistol round to the head before moving on.
The Dead City's main square was completely clear now, mercenaries were milling around, as well as the loners and bandits in the area who had assisted them. It seemed as if the factions had established a local temporary truce to unite and drive out a common enemy. Yet, Victor still couldn't understand. Even without their Preacher, there were still over one hundred of the zealots, a force that vastly outnumbered their opposition. Nevertheless, they had still chosen to retreat, as if their God of some sort had called them back.
Victor scanned the area, looking for any sign of green or a trenchcoat. Within seconds, he found what he had been looking for. "Lieutenant!" he shouted, waving Rurik over "I think we've found our target." keeping a tighter grip on his rifle, he approached the lanky Freedomer by the compound wall.
Sokol's rifle shot up, trained directly on the head of the Dutier approaching. A Dutier he knew of all too well. "Not a step closer, Rurik." he growled as the man came within twenty paces "or this gun will turn your helmet and head inside out."
His eyes quickly flitted around the form of the Duty leader, examining his entourage. A total of four stalkers. The SEVA-clad man with the VSS, another Dutier toting a Gauss Rifle, and two more stalkers, loners by the looks of it, trailing behind the two Dutiers.
The VSS in front of him immediately fixed its sights on his face as soon as he raised his own gun. In seconds, every single mercenary was aiming their weapons at the intruders.
Sokol lowered his gun, as did the loner in front of him. Any shooting would turn the square into a bloodbath, and leave nothing of the group that had just entered. "What's your business here, Dutier?" the Freedom sniper ground out "Seth isn't around, and neither is the bandit. They both legged it ahead of you. So you might as well scram."

"Codename Burner, return to the HQ STAT. Bring Karcentric with you. You are needed for a search-and-destroy and possible recon mission down south. Anatoli"
Burner didn't hesitate. He got up and tried to find Karcentric. He finally found him, searching a monolith member's corpse. "Yo Karc!" The mercenary got up, ready to shoot "Calm down, and drop that dead...whatever he is. HQ's calling again. Time to earn our paychecks!" On the other side of town, Dimitri was waiting with his boys in an old bus, picking off Monolith members one by one. The mercenaries inside were whispering to each other, amazed at his weapon-skill. Without taking an eye off his sights, he just added "Borisov, third floor, second window from the right, sniper popping out behind the desk." The soldier nodded and a RPK barrage annihilated the table and the sniper behind it. "Building nearly clear. One soldier covered behind..." An explosion shattered a few windows on the building "Well, building clear." While they were shooting, Danilov had run out of the bus and picked up an F1 from a mercenary's corpse. He saw a little flash on the first floor and with all his strength, flung the grenade at the Monolith machine-gunner, effectively splattering his remains over the wall. The mercenaries were ready to take on a new block and already converged on the intersection. Dimitri spotted Sokol talking to some people whose leader's size never managed to escape his mind. "Shush, I see Duty's own Rurik. You know anything about him?" Borisov nodded, admiring his RPK "I'm sure he didn't forget us." Dimitri lined his scope chevrons with the massive Duty member's head. With a few quick taps, the Duty colossus and his friends would drop dead instantly. But, someone got in his way. A person in green. Sokol! A freedomer, chatting to a Duty member? Something was amiss The ex-soldiers rushed out of the bus. "My oh my. If it isn't the slaughterer. Attacking a military helicopter which was used to carry the wounded? I am surprised. Next time, please, try to stop a village evacuation mission...again." The others looked at him strangely "Yes, even Duty has its secrets. For some reason, they decided that the best way to save a village would be attacking the rescuers. My, oh, my. Say the word and he drops dead, along with the rest of them. You should have known better, stalkers."

"Seth isn't there...?", murmured Maginot. They had come all this way to find the man they had been looking for had left. Maginot's gut was also telling him something was going to go awry sooner or later.
"Et merde. On bouge. Come on Adder, we're going."
Adder looked at him in surprise, reptilian eyes widening slightly in disbelief.
"-Where? Why?"
Maginot looked at Rurik and the others and said:
"-Sorry Rurik, but Adder and I have decided not to continue this dangerous trip. We'll be returning to the Bar. I thank you for helping us, and farewell."
Maginot turned around and began to walk away. Adder stood motionless for a moment, unsure what she should do. She and Maginot had not yet seen all the horrors of the Zone, and sticking with Rurik seemed more reasonable than just leaving...
She swore and ran off after Maginot. They were a team, and he was the only man she really trusted, besides, the Dutiers wouldn't take kindly to her mutation with Maginot gone. She caught up with him and they both went off towards the edge of the Dead City. Once there, Maginot headed towards Limansk.
"-Wait, wait, wait", said Adder, grabbing Maginot's shoulder and stopping him in his tracks, "you said we were going to the Bar, last time I checked, Rostok wasn't North." "-I lied", said Maginot in the strong, honest tone that Adder had come to associate with him, "back there I realised something: we'll never catch up with Seth if we stick to the main group, besides, the presence of the Dutiers would make it impossible to speak to the man..." "-Mag, I don't like the way you're acting now. I want reasonable, solid Maginot back, not vague, passionate Maginot", said Adder in a sarcastic voice.
Maginot chuckled. Adder and her good old venom...
"-There'd be too much tension. Besides, I feel compelled to talk to that guy. Don't ask me why, I just do. So, are you coming or not?"
Adder fell silent. Maginot's eyes were sparkling with an energy she had never seen before...he was really determined to find Seth by himself. She felt uneasy. He was in a way, a trusted friend, and she didn't want to let him go on by himself...
Go with him...he'll take you closer to Me.
Adder shuddered as the voice returned, filling her with loathing, fear and twisted beatitude and happiness. Yes, she would go, to follow her partner, and to see the Monolith who beckoned to her with such power.
"-Yes", she said finally and firmly, "I'll go with you. We stick together to the end." "-Good", said Maginot, "we'll sneak past the Monolith through Limansk, as this is the only safe path through the Scorcher. We'll move quickly and avoid gun fights." "-Roger that", said Adder with a nod before unslinging her Vintorez.
The pair then moved off, quickly and silently, towards Limansk. Guns at the ready and guts steeled for the worst, they moved on towards the accursed town. As they arrived near the edge of Limansk, which was still smoking from many fires, they headed towards a small concrete storm drain jutting out from beneath a fence. They got down and crawled through the pipe, into Limansk.
