hello fellow stalkers i been playing stalker since the very first release(possibly even that beta release, was a while ago, recall not so good) and i never had any issues running it on my dell lappy ati mobility radeon x1400 128mb (maybe 256, but i think its 128) 2gb ram intel core 2 duo T7200 (2ghz) but while playing CoP i get some pretty crazy fps drops when i hit anomalies. basically as i get really close fps drops a little, and if i walk into one it almost seems like the game hangs for a second. so im wondering, is there anything similar to float32 mod available for CoP? or basically any mod that can improve performance in that very specialized area. i checked out the settings files and didnt find anything that affects only anomalies, but im by no means a modding expert. if anybody has suggestions of either a mod, or any .ltx file tweaks i can do myself, please share

I get similar stutter with ragdolls and moveable objects in water with the settings at max. It seems that the game's just optimized badly that way.
IDK about the mod though. There have been surprisingly few CoP mods releasing, and most of them are largely useless. In fact, I doubt that any mod can improve performance substantially while preserving quality of the shiny CoP graphics on a rig like yours.
What settings are you using?

im actually using pretty low settings, i use the dx8 lighting(static lighting i think its called) and most of ingame sliders all the way down except for view distance and i think i may have texture quality a bit above the minumum. and oh yeah, im running it at 1440x900resolution. i dont really want to make it all shiny and glittery with tons of special effects, im happy with the quality im playing at now, but that crazy lag when i hit anomalies messes with my trying to get out of them... like the anomalies in the tunnels underneath burned homestead (a little ways south from it, between homestead and the pipe) not the 2 moving fire anomalies(comets), but the ones that block off some tunnels, im pretty sure theyre called vortex. anyway, when i hit those in the tunnels and the lag spike hits at the same time it makes it kinda hard to get out of the anomaly. otherwise im perfectly happy with quality and performance i get. PS some people mention that float32 also works for CoP, even though parts of it were included in the official files. so im about to try that out and see if it makes it any better, as well as test out the weapon mod from last night
