Same like the thread on the ol' ZSG. I've applied for a 7-day course in Petnica Research Center in Serbia. I'll be going tomorrow, won't be back till the 6th. I still haven't managed to get my wireless goin' (on my laptop, of course), but I think I'll be able to do it over there. Or ask one of the computer whizzes to do it for me, as I reeeaaaly CBA. If I don't get my laptop's net done, I probably won't be coming here either. Kill my character off for me or something

I've jury rigged a 7.1 surround sound system for my PC out of 3 standalone speaker systems and two speakers vandalized from a boombox. 9 speakers and 3 subwoofers in total.

Indeed. However, I don't really know what to do with it, considering that most games' audios stop at 5.1 channels and there seems to be a lack of 7.1 sound files as well. I guess 7.1 just isn't that popular. Does CoP support 7.1?

An engineering company that builds parts of mining trucks, mainly the trays for coal trucks, and the occasional repair work. Used to be a welder/boilermaker, now I'm in charge at night. It gets boring at times.

I guess 7.1 just isn't that popular. Does CoP support 7.1? No - and most games don't support 5.1 inherently, either (rather sad, IMHO). The few that do, it's all upmixed via the audio kernel - in XP, via DirectSound and/or OpenAL or EAX . . . in Vista, via OpenAL. I'm not gonna get into the mechanics of how it happens, though, would take too long . . . TBH - I can't think of any games that have native 5.1 support, although I'm sure they're out there. Crysis might, but I can't remember. Most game engine simply don't have the implimentation for proper multi-channel . . . instead, they let the OS/hardware figure it out . . .

So, what can I do with my bastard child of a speaker system then?

Attach a microphone and sing or, play music loudly?

I could do that, but I'd like to find a way to make use of the surround sound possibility. I just found out that blu ray mostly stops at 5.1 as well so there's that option also out of the window. Maybe Avatar will come out in 7.1.
