Hiya fellow stalkers!
Not sure if this place gets visited much these days, but I've been running through CoP again and ran into something thats been bothering the heck out of me on every single playthrough.
Is it something borked on my pc only, or does the 4x scope upgrade on the IL86 zoom in much closer then the 4x scope upgrade for the Ft200m?
Just by comparing the different scopes it looks like the IL86 receives a "sniper" 5x scope, while the Ft200m gets the proper susat4x.
I'd love to be told that the problem lies with the Ft200m scope, because I really really love the scope on the IL, its pretty much my most used weapon for midrange kills, stuff that falls outside sniper range but still too far for eliminator.
Either way, has anybody else noticed this? Is there a way I can make the FT200m scope the same as the IL one? I'd definately use the FT if I could make it zoom as well as the IL.

I honestly don't know. I tried to look through the game files, but didn't really know what to look for. It's probably something the devs messed up by accident and nobody really noticed. I've never really used the IL86 in CoP so I haven't noticed any zoom differences.

I normally dont use it either, but this time I grabbed one off of a zombie REALLY early, and because of that zoom I just can't put it down... I've tried every gun by now, theyre all filling my boxes, but the IL is still with me.

If my gaming rif was working I'd check it for you, but... it died.
Any who, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened to be an in game glitch.

You are correct. From the standard in-game files, the zoom factor on the L85 is lower, which means the rifle zooms in more than the FN2000. Basically, the lower the value, the higher the zoom. I used to mod sniper rifles to obscenely high zooms to make shots across entire maps in some playthroughs. So to answer your question - to improve the zoom on more or less any rifle scope, you just make that number lower. At least if I remember it correctly. It's been a while since I last touched any of the game files.

hmmm, i dunno Διμι
arent the upgrade info's in a different file? im thinking the numbers in your screenies are ones for the default zoom? guess ill have to experiment with those numbers... maybe ill just tweak those and not upgrade the scope at all...
or i guess it could use those numbers from the weapons files and modify those with scopes, but thats kinda weird, as diff weapons would end up zooming diff amounts while using identical scopes :/
going to have to test this stuff when im back in cop... playing around with ShoC complete09, and about to try out priboi story, sounds kinda neat... got a thread coming up in ShoC forum regarding modding that too

idk. I never tweaked the upgrade files if there were any.
That's how it worked in SoC. Not sure if the same applies to CoP, but I can see why it both could or might not.
Just try it, no harm done as long as you keep a backup.
