The "new" zone is still a scary place, even worse at night (because it's PITCH FREAKING BLACK!) The thing is, yes, the nights are WAY more surprising, but I always find myself installing the good NV filter I have for SoC (the filter turns it black and white and has a super high light gain.) Nights in the Zone in vanilla CS is nowhere near as scary and dark as it is in SoC with SC2009 installed. My biggest fear in CS so far is 'Will I get to my next waypoint where I intend to save'. As for how my current game is going, apart from the Important Characters, Clear Sky has been forcibly inhumed in full. ;D But I've had no luck managing to fail the Clear Sky faction missions. So much for my Clear Sky inhumation plan succeeding. Whilst I was at Gray's in the CS compound getting all the recovered weapons repaired and upgraded, I heard over the radio of CS driving the Renegades out of every point I forcibly let the renegades take control of. Then I heard the most annoying radio message of all, that CS were now in full control of the Swamps. Joy. Now I have to go and redo the CS inhumation task once again. Jenifur Charne

Mind you the swamps a the nicest place in the whole game, why would want to leave? Because I refuse to join or remain a member of the Clear Sky faction. But as I have now learned, there is no way out of the swamps unless you use the Clear Sky guides, and I would not be at all surprised to learn that to use their services in order to escape the Swamps, you have to join Clear Sky. You can go back later... you just need a guide to reach the CS base, actually that's not true, if you can get over the fence you can make your way there.

I know about not needing a Guide to enter/exit the Clear Sky compound in the swamps. That's not what my current problem in the game is about. When I attempted to leave the Swamps without using a Guide I copped the "You cannot traverse the marshes without a Guide" popup. This, after I'd inhumed all non-important members of Clear Sky, twice. You have to finish the CS fisti-cuffs with the renegades, before you can leave.

You have to finish the CS fisti-cuffs with the renegades, before you can leave. Thanks Karc. Not the news I was hoping for. I *REALLY* did not want to let CS win in the Swamps. But it looks like the only bloody way to escape the Swamps is to let CS win. I loathe such restrictive game scripting. *JeniSkunk wearily turns back to the CS compound again, to get the weapons she recovered from the inhumed CS members repaired before selling the weapons and other junk to the trader. I never had any problems with the first level of Clear Sky, except getting shot up by Renegades.

I never had any problems with the first level of Clear Sky, except getting shot up by Renegades. The only problem I have with the Renegades in the Swamp in CS is the devs hard coded things in the Swamp so the Renegades MUST lose. Jenifur Charne

Yeah, CS's a bitch, what else is new? I didn't like the stuffy engine, the lock-on MIRV grenades and the trench coat bandits who are actually Optimus Prime in disguise. The lock-on capability of the grenades thrown at Scar in CS is nothing short of impossible. To have a grenade thrown at Scar; stick with Scar; whilst Scar is sprinting at the NPC who threw the grenade at Scar. That is something that should have been fixed in one of the official patches. Since the game openly cheats against the player that severely, I repay the game's cheating in kind. By the time the grenade is ready to detonate, Scar has reached the NPC who threw the grenade. Invulnerability cheats active on Scar. Grenade detonates killing the grenade throwing NPC. jenifur Charne

Get a nade launcher for that one...Or a bulldog. Already got grenade launchers on all the guns that can take grenade launchers after full customization, and I have several Bulldogs. The under-rifle grenade launchers in CS seem screwed up in comparison to SoC though. Higher arc of travel and far shorter range, rendering the grenade launcher iron sights being not worth spit in CS. Finally got out of the Swamps and into the Cordon. I see what other folks have been bitching about with the bastards at the Military base; just up the road from the Rookie Camp; having goddamn Superman's telescopic vision. As payback for that bullshit, I went into God Mode and turned that base into a morgue. ;D So once I'd depopulated that Military base, I headed over to see what that fat bastard trader wanted. Just started talking to him, and the game bloody well CTDs. Jenifur Charne
