"This will need to be a long term study," remarked Lisbet as she took notes on the old man's ramblings, some of this information could prove useful later, "Was this the first time that you communicated with the best directly? A shame it will be impossible to study it's brain safely without killing it...Something wish I could have done with a certain Mercenary."
"Oh right, the mutant man Ferret." Lilith responded before realizing calling him a mutant may be rude. "I apologize if that came out rude, I meant no insult."
"That's ok," he said he really it was strange to open with the zone's, mark. I'm used to hiding that from other stalkers, It's just odd."
"As for these lab techs, I am not at liberty to say. It would be Yorick's decision to share any information with you. If you'll excuse me, I must return to my uncle."
"Right, then I'll let you get back to him."

"Oh, yes. This was the first instance of any possible communication. It may not be much, but at the very least we can begin to understand the level on intelligence these creatures have." Yorick began to ramble off about different possible outcomes before regaining his train of thought. "I suppose we should leave it for now though"
As they returned to the main lab Lilith showed up with the lab techs. "What is it uncle?"
"It's marvelous Lilith!" Yorick explained the situation to her and the techs. "As for you men, take shifts watching and noting any behavior with the creature. Lilith you may return to your rest. Lisbet and I will check on Ferret."

"About the Freedomer; Doctor, I've convinced him to part with a few samples." remarked Lisbet, "in fact he still should be milling about."
The pale haired stalker paced the halls of the dormitory, looking for something to occupy his time. It had been forever since he could have time to himself, without the worry of beasts or his fellow men wishing to rip him apart. Nor the anxiety of other much less open minded discovering his mutation. Picking up a book that was laying on one of the tables he began to flip through the pages. The text was some kind of advanced anatomy textbook , no doubt a reference book for one of the doctors that call this base home.
As he read the large text he could hear the footfalls of two persons on the old floor of the lab. With his hair no longer covering his ears he found he could pick up on more sounds in his environment. He put down the book as Yorkic and Lisbet entered.
The women was surprised that the scrawny man could understand the text in which he had picked up. Most stalkers where illiterate, or only had a child's reading compensation skill, only a handful could read at a college level.
"Do you understand that ," she found herself asking.
"Some of it, my farther was a nuclear engineer and I did enjoy math and science as a child, " Ferret shrugged, "I have more education than people give me credit for."

Not only mutated, but with a mild scientific background? This man may be the most valuable asset Yorick had found in the zone yet.
"Color me impressed, Ferret. Not even half of these lab techs can manage to get through those type of texts. Still, good manpower for busywork." Yorick began to ramble again, but caught himself. "Anyway, how are you enjoying your stay? I trust you are feeling much better."
