Cordon A wide tract of land separating the Zone from the Big Land. Stalkers have named this territory the Cordon due to the heavily defended barrier the military has constructed to prevent trespassing of the Exclusion Zone. The Cordon is home to all the loner rookies in the Zone, all of whom try to make an early living around the village, as well as the famed trader Sidorovich. The northern stretches of the Cordon show increased rookie bandit and mutant presence, in particular boars and blind dogs. The Russian military occasionally patrols the road from the Spetsnaz outpost, but rarely goes as far as seeking a fight with the stalkers that have managed to get past their barricades into the Zone. The Garbage Located immediately north of the Cordon, the Garbage is best characterized by the gigantic, irradiated heaps of equipment left there after the initial 'cleanup' of the Chernobyl NPP. The area shows high bandit presence, and loners transversing it are always in risk of getting robbed or otherwise assailed by these vagabonds. To the north is a Duty outpost guarding the gate to the industrial town of Rostok. To the east and west are passages to the Dark Valley and the Agroprom holds, respectively. The Garbage has a high concentration of low-level artifact substances in relatively open places. However, most of these areas are quite heavily irradiated. Moderators: Zeno, Lord Camelith, Basil |

Agroprom Research Institute Before the initial explosion of Reactor 4 of the Chernobyl NPP, this area used to be the site of a prestigious Agricultural Promotion institution. Nowadays it is best known as a gold mine of low-level artifacts and its significant military presence. Sparse groups of bandits and loners occassionally visit this area, although both compounds of the Institute are controlled by the Spetznaz. Despite frequent cleanouts by the military, the subterranean tunnels connecting the two buildings are infamous for being a breeding ground for bloodsuckers and god knows what other mutants. Stalkers should be wary even around the entrances to these catacombs, as the mutants often find their way out. Moderators: Zeno, Lord Camelith, Basil |

The Great Swamps Situated in the south of the zone. This vast area used to be a farming area until several incidents made it unsuitable for farming now including the second explosion in the heart of the CNPP. A maze of murky irradiated water, countless dangerous anomalies, roaming bandits and vicious mutants makes this place is an ill advised location to travel alone. The Clear Sky faction's base is located in this vast area, virtually forgotten by the other factions. Moderators: Zeno, Lord Camelith, Basil |

The Dark Valley A gray, dreary and rainy expanse east of the Garbage, the Dark Valley has a reputation as one of the most dangerous places in the southern reaches of the Zone for a loner. The fact that the bandit headquarters are located here, as well as the central swamps serving as an ideal breeding ground for mutant wildlife make this territory particularly unnerving. However, the small amounts of nonetheless powerful artifacts to be found here continue to draw loners into the Dark Valley day after day. A small stalker camp can be found in the abandoned pigstys near the gate leading to the Cordon, however the loners there have staked out their reputation as little better than the bandits themselves. Rostok This desolate industrial town is both a blessing and a curse to many stalkers who enter it. The southeastern portion of Rostok encompasses the holdings of the Duty faction, well known to be one of the safest and well-guarded areas in the Zone. In addition to the Duty base, this area boasts a considerable loner population, and is the location of the popular 100 Rads Bar. The northwestern portion of Rostok, however, has garnered fame as one of the most perilous areas in the Zone as a whole. This 'Wild Territory', as it is called, is home to many dangerous mutant varieties and vicious mercenaries alike, not to mention brain-dead zombified stalkers swarming in from the Yantar region to the west. Duty frequently patrols the area, but to little visible effect. Moderators: Zeno, Lord Camelith, Basil |

Lake Yantar Previously home to a scenic lake which has since dried up, Yantar is one of the territories to have been hit the hardest by the Zone's spawning. The thick, foggy swamps surround a central factory compound are rumored to house a secret laboratory of some sort. Although the psy-emitter in the area has been long disabled, zombie populations in the area are the highest in the Zone along with extremely high concentrations of mutants such as snorks and bloodsuckers. Despite this, Yantar remains a central research site for the various ecologists and scientists found in the Zone. Although Dutiers and mercenaries make occassional visits to this region, stalkers here are a rarity due to the still hovering fear of the dangers associated with this place. Military Warehouses This hilly area is located a fair way north of Rostok, and was once home to a heavily fortified military outpost. After frequent mutant and Monolith incursions, the Spetznaz forces became weakened, and were promptly forced out by the Freedom faction in the latter's search for a new base. The military base remains under Freedom's command, with the faction also controlling the vigorously defended 'Barrier' between the southern territories and the Red Forest. Other prominent features include an abandoned village infamous for its resident bloodsucker population, as well as a couple of small stalker camps located at an abandoned farmstead and in the hills surrounding the military base. Red Forest Due to its close proximity to the center of the Zone, this forest has been twisted into a prime, horrific example of the Zone-induced natural abominations. The forest deeps are populated with mutants of virtually every variety, as well as stalkers zombified by the now-deactivated 'Brain Scorcher' to the north. The road winding through the forest, although providing a clear path, is none the safer. The mysterious Monolith faction viciously defends the passage north, to the city of Pripyat and the Nuclear Power Plant itself. Needless to say, only the most daring and intrepid stalkers venture past Freedom's Barrier separating this region from the more heavily populated sectors of the Zone. Limansk Previously a town built to accomodate the various researchers working near the Nuclear Power Plant, Limansk has been all but abandoned. The city used to be one of the only access points to the Nuclear Power Plant other than Pripyat, however, this route was blocked off after the failure of the Clear Sky faction to stop Strelok from reaching Reactor 4. An outskirt of Limansk, known only as the Dead City, serves as the base of operations for the elusive mercenary faction. The city is accessible from the Red Forest and Yantar, however, stalkers should rarely expect the mercenaries to accomodate their whims and let them pass. Moderators: Zeno, Lord Camelith, Basil |

Zaton Zaton, or Creek as it is also called, is a popular nickname for the swampy terrain north of Pripyat. There are washed-up barges all over the area, as well as strange, concentrated anomalous formations. Loners and bandits have a ceasefire pact while staying in Skadovsk, the key point in the area. Beard represents the stalkers on the barge and is considered to be the "head" of the loners in that area whereas the bandits are handled by Sultan who spends his day plotting against his "host". Surprisingly enough, there are few conflicts in this area, which is possibly due to its seclusion. Moderators: Zeno, Lord Camelith, Basil |

Jupiter Jupiter is a name given to the industrial complex north of the city of Pripyat. The large, Soviet-era Jupiter factory dominates the region, providing access to Pripyat. There are various factories and workshops scattered around the entire map. The "Yanov" train station is the most important location in the area where Duty and Freedom have their representatives along with some hunters, traders and mechanics. This area is populated by an increasing number of dangerous mutants and is said to be the home of the fabled "Oasis". Moderators: Zeno, Lord Camelith, Basil |

Pripyat This famed, abandoned city provides the only access to the Chernobyl NPP. The Monolith faction has been rumored to have its headquarters somewhere in the heart of the city. The streets are stalked by mutants, zombies and a precious few expert stalkers from various factions seeking various treasures in this warzone of a city. The military makes frequent excursions to this area, usually sending only the elite of mainstay. Nevertheless, all of these expeditions have been so far doomed to failure. With the deactivation of the Brain Scorcher, more and more stalkers have been attempting to make their way into the city, fueled by various desires and all seeking different things. Of course, this only means that the Zone has only taken more and more lives with every passing day. Moderators: Zeno, Lord Camelith, Basil |

The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant - 1 Viewing At the center of the Zone, in the confines of this heavily reinforced structure lies the answer to all the secrets of the 1989 disaster, and the Zone that came about as a result. Very few stalkers have made it this far, and of the few that have been known to enter this building, none have been heard from again. Rumors tell of a 'Wish Granter' situated at the heart of the damaged Reactor 4 complex; a wondrous device capable of granting the innermost desires of those who have managed to come that far. The entire Nuclear Power Plant is controlled by the Monolith faction, the members of which will no doubt give their last breath to defend it. Moderators: Zeno, Lord Camelith, Basil |
