How do I get them to Yanov? Neither faction trusts me enough and I've distributed all the documents I've found rather randomly between the factions, though most have gone to the scientists. I also read that I actually had to give the arms smuggler's PDA to Duty for them to trust me enough, not to Owl. How the fuck was I supposed to know there even was Duty at Yanov then already?
Anyway, is there any more hope that I'll get them taken in at Yanov or have I just silent-failed that mission?

You have to complete the 'perfect detector' mission for Owl and the scientists. You'll get a very special object that you can pawn to either Duty or Freedom and gain their trust. After that, you can convince the faction to take in the ex-monolithians.

Dimi, I thought giving either side the PDA was the requirement for kicking off trust. The 'special object' I think you're talking about can only go really to Sultan or Beard... right? Or have I just not done enough digging...

Nope, Kobura, the "special object" you're thinking of becomes your personal property and you use it to find the "other special object" that'll gain either Duty or Freedom's trust and enable you to complete the task.

To start with owl has only one job for you - the Mercs. After a while he will have another involving detectors. Once you've done this you'll have a new detector and that can solve a puzzle in Jupiter near the cooling tower.
The solving of that puzzle will provide you with a PDA. Give this to Freedom (Strider and his ex-Monolithian buddies prefer Freedom by far - their in-game comments make that clear). Once you give the PDA to Loki you can then ask him to accept the new squad and he'll trust you.
Have him send a few guards for the scientists, too.

I've done all that.
As a matter of fact, I had my radar dotted with green NPCs in Jupiter a while ago, then I went back to Zaton to do the detector quests and other shit but now that I've come back to Jupiter everyone's neutral again. At the time I shrugged it off, but I guess something really went wrong with the game mechanics there.

If you give either Morgan's or the Duty General's PDA to Freedom they'll all be green to you.
If you then give the remaining PDA to Duty all the Freedomers will revert back to neutral - you just did the dirty on them by helping their enemies.
Give one of those PDAs to Loki and sell the other to Owl.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.
Man, I hate having to use trainers.
EDIT
Now I remember what happened. I gave the smuggler's PDA to Freedom, then the Duty founder's PDA to Duty. Spawnmod does fuck-all, nobody wants the founder's PDA anymore and handing over the smuggler's PDA locks the door out of either leader's office indefinitely.
I'd say this is a horrible fuck-up on GSC's behalf. This just makes the mission unfinishable should the situation meet a certain criteria.

You can give a Morgan's PDA to either the Duty or Freedom commanders at Yanov, and then to Owl. I tried as well to give a Morgan's PDA to both Yanov commanders. Immediate doorseal on the second commander I give a Morgan's PDA to. The doorseal even goes straight through wedging objects such as 44 gallon drums. GSC is deliberately forcing you to pick a side at Yanov over that PDA. As for the Duty general's PDA, I never thought to see what happens when I give that one to Freedom. Despite giving this PDA to Duty, I had no problems convincing the recommended STALKERS to do the guard duty at the labs. The Jupiter/Pripyat Underground docs, I've just got the last of them and Nitro's figured out what I have to do next. Jenifur Charne

Wait, so I have to go back to Owl, give him a duplicate of Morgan's PDA, then come back to Yanov and give Duty/Freedom a third copy? And then they won't seal the door?
Or are you saying I have to load a save all the way at the beginning of the game, go through the game all over again, then give both the Duty founder and the smuggler's PDA to Duty/Freedom?
It's not even deliberately forcing you to choose a side, it's telling you what you should have done when the decision can't be reverted anymore.

That would all be to do with every game being different. Your choices during your stay in the Zone lead to different outcomes.
Do you have either Duty or Freedom as green friends? If not, and all PDAs and such have been handed out, it looks like you'll have to do the Underpass without Strider.
You only really need one companion to get Zulu to agree to go with you, so not having Strider isn't game-breaking.
Who the PDAs and documents go to is tied in with 'Information Dealer', 'Friend of Freedom/Duty' and other achievements. You can't get all achievements in one game as some are not compatible with others - they require the same documents, PDAs and actions.
I give 'Flint' to the Loners. The Mercs' laptop goes to Owl, as do the two PDAs from there. Morgan's PDA I give to Freedom which gets the trust I need to enlist the ex-Monolithians into Freedom. Freedom send guards to the lab. The Duty general's PDA goes to Owl.
When you side with a faction (Freedom/Duty) you need to side all the way - give one what they need, give the other nowt or the first gets upset.
