"We'll have to play this quiet, and swiftly." Karc said, drawing two of his knives and spinning them quickly between his fingers, getting the best grip.
“Just my style,” the Russian replied smugly making sure the silencer was securely fastened to the pistol he’d be using. He pulled out his knife the blade was blacked so not to reflected any light and give away his position. With deep controlled breaths, he waited for the next group got into position.
The door opened and finally the Mercs filed out into the hall. They were confused when their allies where not out to great them, but that would be short lived.
Shade help his breath and made his move, he lined up the iron site to the head of the leader. He fired releasing his breath, instantly the bullet slammed into the man’s forehead and exited out the back of his skull. The only sound that was heard was the quiet thud of a body hitting the ground. The remain men didn’t have the time to react for at that moment the two assassins let their cover.
Shade went forth moving from a crouched position into a low lunge, with a slash another fell to the ground dead grasping the gash in his neck as another unfortunate took a bullet through the eye. The last two would be left to Karc to finish.

The last two guards turned to run only to have a knife plunged into their throats, with a silent yank Karc cut large gauges through the merc's throats, they dropped instantly with out a sound.
Wiping the blood from the blades he sheathed them again and accepted the card Shade had already fished out of the leader's pocket, fishing out a magazine of ammunition from one of the downed corpses he stuffed it in his bag, and an F1 grenade which he put in a pocket.
"Okay, ready?" Karc asked, Shade nodded, they both swiped the cards at the same time and the door slid open smoothly, as Karc had thought, a storage area greeted them. Slipping in quietly they let the door close before going over the plan quietly, there was still at least 5 mercs that might be armed.
"We'll be most efficient by picking them off on our own, I'll move first you follow, try to restrain from killing the techs, they aren't likely to to be armed and they'll have info we can use." Karc said quietly, drawing the silenced 1911 he slowly made his way forward to observe the remaining guards, they were seated eating are meal, their talk was low, nothing of interest, one of the men got up and left the table, it was quiet here despite the location, almost homely except the present mercs were hostiles. Killing them silently would be difficult, especially since two were facing Karc and they'd see if he ran towards them.
However Karc spied Shade already moving around to get into a better position to attack the other two.
The Bandit nodded and Karc rushed forward as did Shade the two struck in unison dispatching of four guards in a matter of seconds, making relatively no sound.
Karc pointed in the direction that the last of the guards had gone, Shade disappeared without a sound, Karc however went in search of the two technicians that had been mentioned.
The first was easy to find, he walked past Karc without a second look, turning as soon as the tech had hurried by, Karc put the tech in a sleeper holder, knocking the man out cold, securing his hand and feet, Karc tied a rag around his mouth to keep him quiet.
A quick search didn't reveal the other, assuming Shade had found the other tech as well as dealing with the last guard.

The Bandit had to admit the two of them made a rather well balanced team, the mercenary was one of the few persons that the assassin did not mind working with. He’d be a good partner out in the bid land, but Tosya was sure that Karc was a stalker for life now. He was slowly starting to see why men grew so attached to the zone, a place without bounds and law was only what the populace made it to be. It was a frontier that would never be fully tamed by humans, no matter how hard the military or Duty tried the zone was here to stay.
With the last of the armed guards dealt with the two had split up in order to find the technicians. Shade turned a corner staying low to the ground, working along on the balls of his feet. Much like a cat he continued on looking for the two techs. Moving along a hall the sound of loud music was heard coming from a room just up a head. Creeping up Shade peered into the room; inside a man dressed in a grimy jumpsuit was busily at work on a complex set of electronics and components. He did not see the bandit enter the room, for his music player was blaring loud rap music.
Shade tapped the man on the shoulder; the tech ignored it thinking it was just one of the guards. But the assassin tapped him again and the tech turns only to be greeted with a gloved fist that slams into his face. The technician fell to the ground and Shade pulled out some zip ties from his bag and fastened the man’s hand and feet with the ties. Before shutting off the obnoxious drivel coming from the player. Having learned from the last time, the Bandit balled up a rag and stuffed it into the prisoner’s mouth. There will be no remarks or biting from this one.
Dragging the unconscious man Tosya dumped him before Karc after noting that the Merc had found the other technician. If the information that they had gotten from that one turn coat was right the only people still here would have been the target and the one scientist.
“Only Jurgen and the one egg head remain,” remarked Shade, “once one of these whelps comes too, we’ll have the information we need.”
Things had been going easy, almost too easy; suddenly the sound of a metal clang was herd coming from the hall. As a metal object bounced towards them, the assassin recognized it as a stun grenade but had no time to react before it went off.
Blinding light and a deafening explosion rocked the area, Shade’s vision blurred and ears rang as something approached. It was a large dark form; the assassin’s hands trembled disoriented as he reached for his pistol. Slowly raising the weapon he tried to line up a shot, but the handgun was simply kicked out of his hand as a foot came down on his neck. Shade tried to push the weight off his throat but it became harder and more difficult to breathe. As a last ditch effort, releasing a hand from the ankle he took hold of his knife and plunged the blade into the limb. The weight was lifted from his neck as he flipped himself over holding his throat coughing wildly. Without hesitating the Bandit pulled himself up and using the wall as a guide backed away. The world around him was still distorted but at lest the ringing was slowly starting to dissipate and balance was slowly returning to his leg as well.

Karc turned and saw the grenade bounce towards them only to be blinded by the intense light and a deafening bang, stumbling backwards he clumsily tumbled over the table that the mercs had been eating at.
“Ahhhh…” Karc cried out in surprise as he bumped into the table and hit the ground.
“Shit.”
His vision was still very vague, he could see figures fighting in the distance, one must have been Jurgen judging by the height, making the other on the ground Shade. Pushing himself up unsteadily, before he could even think of helping he was tackled from the side by one of the technicians and and he crashed to the ground again. Rolling to avoid the flurry of weak blows the tech was trying to land on Karc, clearly the man had been stunned too. Grabbing the man’s coat he swung at where he thought the man’s head was only to miss and punch the locker that he was next to, denting the thin metal and recoiled in surprise.
The tech tried head butting Karc only to knock himself out from bashing his head against the ballistic mask.
“Fucken idiot,” Karc muttered, pushing the unconscious man off of him. “Where’s Shade gotten to?” Standing he found his head was ringing and his balance was off badly. His vision was still very blurry as he stumbled forward he could see Shade ahead of him, Jurgen had hurried off again, clearly he going to arm himself. Shaking his head to try and clear his head helped a little, unslinging his rifle he made it to Shade. Stopping beside him.
“I don’t know about you but my vision pretty off right now, combine that with the swaying in my head. Couldn’t think of a worse time to try and hunt down a heavily armed merc, even being drunk would be better.” Karc said.
Further ahead they heard a door crash open and the sound of light machine gun filled the room. Bullets whizzed past and the two went separate ways, Karc didn’t see which way Shade went but he suspected the bandit could look after himself despite the threat they faced.
Throwing himself behind some lockers a spray of rounds passed overhead, punching holes in the light metal, crawling to get cover behind a wall for solid protection. Huddling against a concrete pillar more rounds punched in into the pillar and the lockers with Karc pinned down. More shots obviously fired towards Shade’s position. Before he could run out and attack more rounds peppered the area. Before a sound that made think for a second before another explosion ripped a row of lockers into shrapnel.
Several pieces of metal showered around Karc, ducking down he peered through one of the many bullet holes to try and see Jurgen, but the room was still swirling with smoke and dust. The sound of a magazine being changed prompted Karc into action, quickly running from his hiding place fired on the rogue merc as he changed sides of the room. The 1911 was largely ineffective against the powerfully armoured target but the tall Greek staggered back from the impact of the rounds. Hiding in one of the rooms that was used as a storeroom.
More gunfire from the target’s MG. Shots from another gun made the tall merc fire on another position. Looking out, Karc quickly prepped his assault rifle and fired bursts into the knee’s of his opponent, one of the pneumatic servos buckled before collapsing, dropping Jurgen to one leg, his firing halted while he tried to focus on Karc, but his weapon was already knocked out of his hand by the quick acting Bandit who kicked the exo wearing down onto his back.
Karc stepped out and joined in with the attack helping make the suit’s pneumatically driven pistons dysfunction, effectively trapping Jurgen from moving. Taking up a steel table leg he swung hard slightly bending the piston on one of his arms, swinging again the joint sieved.
“Sever the cables from the servo.” Karc said., as he attempted to sever on of the cables.

“I don’t know about you but my vision pretty off right now, combine that with the swaying in my head. Couldn’t think of a worse time to try and hunt down a heavily armed Merc, even being drunk would be better.” Karc remarked coming beside Shade, both of them still recovering from the stun grenade.
“-I’d rather be drunk,” commented Shade as he unsteady pushed himself off the wall, only to have bullet zoom passed him head a moment later. Swearing softly under his breath he took cover in a door way then began to try to work his way around to flank the Exoskeleton clad Merc.
“Your reckoning is coming, you son of a bitch,” mutter out Shad who due to the effects of the grenade was easy for the Greek, “I’ll pay you back in kind.” Due to the fire power of Jurgen’s weapons the Russian was pin down unable to even get a shot off. Each time he would peak his head out to try to view just what he was up against he’d be forced back into hiding, as bullets ate way at the corner of the concrete wall ricocheting left and right. A thin metal plate on the opposite wall was now peppered with bullet holes. What a waste of perfectly good ammo, and the turn coat did not seem like he was running out yet. On the other side of the target Shade could hear the sounds of a pistol being fired, clearly that must have been Karc. The Greek then turned all of his attention to firing at the fancy haired Mercenary, allowing the assassin to move and close in. Ducking into alcove as the man tried to fire at both his and his partner’s positions at the same time. The old pincer strategy was working it would only be a matter of time before Jurgen was worn down and they could rush in to finish the job. Karc managed to shot out one of the servos in the turncoat’s Exoskeleton, allowing Shade to close the gap and kick out the man’s weapon from his very hands.
“-Sever the cables from the servo.” Karc said, as he attempted to sever on of the cables.
The Bandit looked around the area for a bludgeoning tool and grinned once his eyes laid upon a sledgehammer tucked away in a nearby corner. Quickly arming himself with the tool he used all of his force to slam the heavy mallet on to one of the suit’s hydraulic components, bending the metal and making it useless. Pleased with the damaged he’ dealt he swung the hammer once more, cracking yet another joint in the Merc’s suit. Once all of the joints and servos had been damaged beyond function or outright destroyed, Shade removed his veiled helm before kicking of the Greek’s headgear. The assassin wanted to confirm the man’s identity but also want him to know just who aided in sending him into his grave.
“-Don’t look so surprised Jurgen,” the bandit remarked smugly a murderous gleam in his eyes, “ all traitors get theirs in the end.”

“-Don’t look so surprised Jurgen,” the bandit remarked smugly a murderous gleam in his eyes, “ all traitors get theirs in the end.”
“Indeed.” Karc commented as he looked around the room. To think only five minutes ago it had been quiet, clean and bodies weren’t strewn everywhere.
Walking to where Jurgen lay, he pressed his boot to the turncoat’s throat. “I’m going to ask you once only. What are you doing here, and what are you trying to build?” Karc said, drawing his pistol and pointing it directly at Jurgen’s forehead.
The pause between Jurgen replying seemed like an hour, but was mere seconds. “Fuck you, you’ll get nothing from me.” The helpless merc spat.
Without hesitation Karc fired a single shot, the silencer reducing the noise to only a loud click. “Not my problem now.” Karc muttered as he holstered his pistol and stepped away from the corpse as blood began pooling.
A few seconds passed before Karc looked to Shade, “Let’s take a quick look around, gather any information and burn it, along with the bodies. But first,” Karc said walking to the door that Jurgen had originally emerged from, “let’s have a look in here.”
Pushing the door as he entered Karc looked over the well lit room, it was a vault of parts of all sorts. Papers lay scattered of several desks with blueprints of guns, armour, even custom ammunition. Another desk had more designs like they had found before. Lining up the symbols again and laying it over a small light table the design was indeed of a satellite of some sort, though how it worked was beyond Karc.
“Must be some sort of emitter, for what though we’ll never know. Probably for the best too.” Karc said striking a battered lighter and igniting the papers, destroying the design.
Looking over one of the work benches he spied the sniper rifle Jurgen had used so often, expressing his confusion once more over it. “Why would you need a grenade launcher on a sniper rifle? I never understood that”
Taking a seat on one of the benches he waited as Shade looked over the room. "I'm going to destroy this room so if there's something you want I'd take it and go. The chance's of Monolith forces finding this place is not a chance I want to take, that and there's the chance other turncoats know about this place." Karc said, taking an IED from one of the shelves and gave it a quick going over to figure out how it worked.

Shade stood by as Karc interrogated then executed the Jurgen, it always amazed him how easily and quickly that humans could be killed. Still after dealing and trading in death that fact always continued to have that effect on him. After going through so many obstacles and fighting their way past bodyguards and other armed men he always found rather funny that the target would down so quickly. But then again, the Mercenary leader wanted the job so he sent the very best. Despite the odds being stacked in the target’s favor they came through as the victors. The bandit nudged the body with his foot before patting it down in search of loot, his efforts turned up a large wad of money and a flash drive. Although the assassin knew that he could not get away with all of the found money he was careful with the small device. Pocketing it secretly into his coat when the other had his back turned. He would have to wait to see what treasure trove the flash drive would hold later.
“Let’s take a quick look around, gather any information and burn it, along with the bodies. But first,” Karc said walking to the door that Jurgen had originally emerged from, “let’s have a look in here.”
Shade, followed suit looking over all of the odd and very strange scientific apparatuses and blueprints. There were also prototypes and designs for weapons and body armor, things that he was much more familiar with. Some of the gun designs were of rather unneeded attachments of grenade launchers and the like.
As he browsed the room he came upon a woodland style camouflage cloth, inspecting the cloth more closely he found that embedded in the fabric were shards of various artifacts. Fireball, Flash and what looked like small pieces of Electro Battery artifact. As he began to search the area more thoroughly he found some notes on the item he’d had picked up, it would seem it was a failed experiment. They were trying to work out how to use artifact in textiles, so that the wearer was given only positive effect of the artifacts. It would seem that they only succeed in destroying more artifact then making anything of use. This item would prove something of use to him, not for himself but the for the redhead back in the Dark Valley. Folding up the item he placed it into his pack then continued his search; finding more blueprints of a more scientific nature, chemical formal and page long equations with multiple variables lay strewn about the table. It would take weeks to sort and catalog everything, time that they did not have. Although not a man of science the bandit felt that destroying all of the data would be a waste, but it was better this way, it would less likely for someone else to stroll in and take the info for themselves.
The assassin began to drag the bodies of the dead into one room so that they they would be easier to incinerate. He Striped them of thier body armor for a cleaner burn but it bother him that they had yet to find or met up with the scientist who was supposed to be lurking around. Hearing something russell behind him he turned, to see an older middle aged man before him. The man was dressed in a white lab coat and his gray hair was short yet wilde his face clean shaven. Shade went for his weapon just as the old man pulled something out of his coat, it looked like a yellow orb clearly an artifact some kind, he gave it squeeze and power many colors of shifting light filled the room. The assassin found himself becoming dazed and longer in control of his own body..........
Coming to hours later, Shade found himself laying on the ground head hurting and memory blank. Sitting up he found himself in what he hoped was another part of the bunker, his setting to be a control room for a tram of some kind. In another corner of the room he saw Karc seemingly as bewildered as he.
“What the hell,”he muttered, “How in fucks name did we end up here? The egghead...where is he?”

Lisbet sat in the office of the Merc leader, forgoing her normal attire of black skirt and white blouse or even the dab green environmental protection suit. Instead she was in a form fitting deep red dress with a plunging V neck that ended slightly above her knees. This outing from her bunker was not all for pleasure, but also for a check up of her patient. The man whose office in which she sat, was one of her clients that she had treated for a brain tumor, he was also a testament to her new much less invasive procedure.
She had no idea about the mission of the Bandit and Karc until the tall and colorful merc had reported in. Some kind of assassination mission from the sounds of it but what had peaked her interest was talk of the bunker. Perhaps one or maybe both had managed to swipe information from that place before leaving, and could be persuaded to part with that data. She found it odd that the Mercenary commander had asked her to examine the two when they returned, injuries normally sustained during combat were not of her prerogative unless they had been shot through the skull or had some kind of head injury. Still she had agreed to see them, after all it gave her a chance to see what kind of data they had gotten their hands on.

Karc's own thoughts came back to him in a rush. Shouting out in surprise as his mind was released from the device the scientist had used. Pushing himself up he saw Shade was still laid out, the room didn't seem familiar. Tracks leading into the darkness and several trams parked nearby, one had been derailed and lay sadly on it's side.
Taking several deep breathes he tried to retrace his steps but several hours were a blur of nonsense, looking over the controls on the panel where the tram was missing he wondered if someone had taken it recently. When a groan from behind caught his attention, Shade had finally woken up his bewilderment was the same as Karc's.
“What the hell,”Shade muttered, “How in fucks name did we end up here? The egghead...where is he?”
Karc shrugged.
"Beats me, I don't even recall seeing the scientist." He replied, "But I suspect he left using one of these trams?" Karc suggested turning back to the control panel.
"Maybe we can retrieve the missing tram?" Karc said, hovering his hand over a lever before pulling it. Nothing happened at first so he turned back to Shade who was on his feet and looking around.
"So you found him huh? Any ideas how an unarmed man incapacitated veterans?" Karc asked, the last thing he remembered was dragging bodies into one of the side rooms for burning, before Shade could answer are rumble interrupted making Karc go for his assault rifle but found it was gone. Swearing he took out pistol and check it before taking the stairs back into the control room, several high pitched squeaks and the steady, repetitive clicking sound indicated the tram was back. There was no one the tram, or so it seemed from this distance and in the current gloom. clicking various buttons and switches looking for the switch for the floodlights. The lights came on with no warning, unsure what button he'd pressed even Karc observed the tram waiting for someone or something to get off and attack.
A few minutes passed before he decided to find a way down and investigate.
"Come on, let's take a look around on the platform, maybe there's a clue down there?" Karc suggested, glad to have something to occupy his mind.
Sliding down a small ladder he landed as quietly as possible and stalked towards the tram, the area was enormous, housing at least 30 trams, some up on hydraulic jacks others neatly parked, out of service for whatever reason. Creeping closer he saw his assault rifle laying on one of the seats. It's magazine was missing and the scope had several fractures in the lenses. Pulling the useless optical device off he tossed it away before loading a fresh mag cocked it.
"Odd, I wonder if we took the tram from where we killed Jurgen or this scientist has taken something and fled?" Karc said, aloud more to sound his mind than ask the question. Checking his PDA he noted that they had indeed been transported away from where they had initially killed the turncoat merc and encountered the scientist.
"Only now he have to figure out what to do, do we head back, destroy what we can and leave or go and try to track down this elusive scientist?" Karc asked, preferring to finish and leave but knew it would bug him if he didn't find out what had happened during their blackout.

Karc toyed with the control panel in his own respective area as the Russian did the same in his own. He seemed to have found some kind of video counsel but the wiring had been cut, recently as there had been no rust or even dust on the cut copper wires.
"So you found him huh? Any ideas how an unarmed man incapacitated veterans?" Karc asked.
“-I can’t quite recall, he pulled something from his coat then nothing,” replied Shade trying to see if he could mend the broken cables. A moment later the sound of the metal click down the track, and scraping of wheel on rails was heard, as the tram returned. Karc found a way of turning on the lights but also found to his dismay that his rifle was missing, Shade on the other hand seem to have all of his equipment.
"-Come on, let's take a look around on the platform, maybe there's a clue down there?" Karc suggested
“-I’ll cover you,” the assassin motioned taking up a position behind the Merc. They climbed down to the lower level investigating the cart. Karc found his weapon but it had been damaged some causing his to toss the broken optic to the ground.
"-Only now we have to figure out what to do, do we head back, destroy what we can and leave or go and try to track down this elusive scientist?"
“-Our mission is complete,” the assassin said, “However I want clear up any blanks in my memory. There was some kind of video recording equipment up in the control room; I think I get it working again.”
The bandit climbed back to the top level and continued to work on the repairs of the console. After a few minutes the box of four screens flickered back to live, giving off a brownish grayscale image of the area. The assassin rewound the video stopping at the time they first entered the area; according to the time stamp it was nine hours ago.
‘The two zone veterans entered the room, Karc was in the front followed by the strange old man and taking up the rear was the Bandit, Shade. The scientist held a round glowing object in his left hand as he directed the two with the other; he seemed to yelling out some kind of orders to which the tall Merc moved in an awkward stagger to the tram controls. Both his and Shade’s movements where stiff and unnatural, as if they had been zombified.’
“What the fuck is he using,” the bandit snarled out angrily as he paused then zoomed in on the object, only for it to become overly pixelated, “Shit! We’d need high end imagery software to clean up that piece of crap.”
“The only group that might have such would be the military,” Shade grunted punching the metal panel, leaving a small dent, “bastard.”
The assassin played the video once more, fast forwarding parts of none activity. Over a six hour time slot the Mercenary and his Bandit counterpart dragged and carried box upon box of various equipment and data into the control room, then packed them on the tram.
“Whatever he used on us overrode our Psy screening,” Tosya remarked after a few moments, much more relaxed than before, “until we can block whatever he has it would be foolish to chase after him. If we blow up the entrance we’d never be able to find him again.”
“Your leader suggested that this complex might spans the entire zone and connect all of the X labs,” He continued, “this location is very valuable to anyone, if you can convince your boss to take over we may find out just what exactly was taking place down here.”
“Also I’m not found of Doctors, but that device he used did something to us, I want to know what,” He said shifting his pack some, “We need to go back to your boss and find out.”

Listening to what Shade said, Karc pondered the thought truth be told Karc would be glad to rid of this place, it was useful but Karc was more interested in leaving and getting paid, his head was spinning with questions and the longer he lingered the worse it became.
"I'm still destroying anything that remains before we head back," Karc said walking to the trams front to initiate the controls and travel to the area that they had dispatched Jurgen, "Since I don't fully trust anyone when it comes to psy based devices. Not you, not my boss, no one and especially anyone in Yanov. Profit to be made or not."
The only noise made was the tram car making it's way through the dark tunnel, the occasional light flickered showing nothing of interest, Karc was still standing by the control console of the tram waiting for the platform of the base to show up.
Several minutes passed with Karc falling back into his thoughts, his paranoia was kicking in slightly, he was in a situation that he didn't enjoy, trawling for something to speak about something that had sat in the back of his mind suddenly popped, Shade had been in the group that was attacked by the mysterious assailant at Yanov station. A slight grin passed over his concealed face, while he and Shade got along for their mission, Karc largely didn't trust him, but he didn't trust most members of the Bandit faction.
As the station came into view Karc eased the speed down letting the tram car grind to a halt with a soft thud as it connected with coupling at the station.
Stepping out onto the station Karc checked his PDA, following the path they'd taken while out of their senses they finally came upon the grisly remains of Jurgen, the blood had dried slightly and was now sticky, giving the headless corpse a nudge with his boot he chuckled, "Looking good boss." He said before laughing slightly. His grim sense of humor had often been a barrier between himself and others.
"I'll be five minutes." Karc said taking an explosive device from his pack and setting it down within the workshop, placing several tins marked with flammable warnings on them around the device he finally programed the device to his PDA and came back out, nodding to Shade and speaking.
"Let's get out of here, the blast won't be big but the chemicals that are in there are noxious, even with you filter."
Following the tall assassin's steps, as they got to the first security door Karc tapped the PDA's screen and the resulting explosion gave a solid thud sending a solid reverberation through the area followed by the sound of engulfing flames burning intensely.
Hitting the button the door slid open, hitting the second button they waited as the first door slid shut and the outer door slid open, from there the duo made good time through the facility retracing their steps to the exit.

The bandit made sure to mark the location in the a permanent marked on his pda, Karc might have destroyed some of the information left behind but hopefully not any clues as to the identity of the old man. Shade was not the kind to forgive or forget wrongs done to him, he was a vengeful person and would not let a transgression go lightly. He now had a list of three men that need to be repaid for their actions first was the armored knight that vanished in a blinding blue light, the next was the Monolithain that had attacked him as he slept in the so called safety of the Skadovsk. And now this old man, like like other these individuals would be hard to track down.
However rumors had been spreading of both of the the Knight and the other Monlithain. High preachers or something of the like, fearing no outpost defenders and even succeeding at raiding heavy military armored vehicle. He been keeping track of any reports yet still had to work out any kind of pattern with either. The old man would surface once more, all he had to do was wait.
The assassin mused on another topic, by Karc must have found and or figure out that it was he that had doused the gear of him and his men, and yet had not even asked about it. Now would be the opportune time for the Merc to repay the deed with his own justice. They had just left the bunker then the outside door slammed behind then, they had been underground almost 19 hours and it was now mid-afternoon as they had arrived just before night fall the day prior.
"What now, my friend," remarked Tosya as he carefully regarded all of the the others actions. If Karc was to attack him, it would be be now, in Shade's mind doing so would be a bonus. Revenge plus his cut of the hit if Karc reported that there had been an "accident" and that the assassin had be claimed by the zone .
"We both know trust is a dead concept," he continued, "the only things a man can rely on are money, blood, and greed. So tell me El Pollo Diablo how will you end this?"

"What now?" Karc said, "Is we go back to Limansk and get payed, if your implying I have a vindictive streak about endangering my life and the life of my squad than yes I do, but the pawn isn't worth striking from the board. Especially since I know who gave you the task and I can imagine who needed my squad and I out of the way. By and large I'm not who you need be concerned about." The glare from the dipping sun stung Karc's eye, the darkness of the facility was a stark contrast. Thinking more about the whole thing seemed like a waste of time. "So tell me about the guy that attacked your group,." Karc asked, he was curious to see if it was the same man he'd seen when the space anomaly had collapsed, "there was a strange occurrence out in Red Forest during winter and long story short I saw someone, strange armor, glowing eyes, and his voice was a distorted, it echoed almost." Karc tried to remember more but the he wasn't even sure if he'd imagined the whole thing or not. At that moment a message sent to him from Schwarz. Visitor here waiting for you both, an old friend of yours Fossen. Karc snorted with amusement, before sending a thanking message and relaying the information on to Shade. "Looks like another piece of the board is waiting for us at base. I'm slightly confused why, but should be an enlightening experience. " Karc said, the drawbridge into the city was coming into view a group of mercs watched the duo approach. When they identified Karc they saluted. Karc in turn gave a quick salute, he often found it amusing the chain of command. The leader of the group spoke to Karc. "Your new equipment is ready sir." Karc simply nodded and walked on.

"I'm glad to see that others beside myself and the those two fools that Duty and Freedom left north see this man as a treat" remarked Shade,"he was a Monolithian, had on some very impressive hardware."
"Full body exoskeleton, very advanced not like what you see most stalkers strutting around in" he continued," I manage to get a look a his face before he got me with a left hook, his eyes glowed and yeah his voice had some odd distortion. He didn't look well feed, his face had shrunken into his skull, and he had no eye lids either."
"There is a Freedomer by the name Ferret that might know more," the assassin remarked thoughtfully, 'let's just say he's been 'blessed' by the zone."
Karc received a message after he had got thought with is tail. Shade assumed that Karc was speaking of Lisbet as he highly doubted that Yorick would ever side with the Mercs.
They reached Limansk waiting for them was a small troop of men, they greeted Karc with saluted then relaid that the Merc had new equipment.
They continued on into the base where walked Lisbet from behind a turn. Still in her deep crimson cocktail dress, her two basic Mercenary armored escorts not far behind her.
"-I hadn't planed on see either of you gentlemen so soon," she remarked, "Mr. Karc your leader as asked of me to give both of you medical exams after you make your report."
"As you can imagine," she continued," he is very eager to hear about what occurred during your mission . Now if you will pardon me I have to set up for the exams."

"Ferret eh, I'll have to keep an eye out for him, elderly chap right?" Karc asked, he'd heard of Ferret's description but little else, but knew a little of his mutation. "His blessing, conjuring ghosts or something. He had a meeting, well sort of, it wasn't actually him, just a ghost or a vision. Either way I know who you're talking about, I was meaning to talk to that runt you had in the group too, but he'd probably try and feed me or something."
As they drew upon the base Lisbet and her escort were waiting for the duo.
Karc said quickly and quietly to Shade, "If there was someone I wanted vengeance on, she's leagues ahead of you."
"That's one strange outfit to be wearing for a medical examination." Karc commented, his trust for the Professor wasn't great and he wanted to be done with these slightly strange procedures. He'd never had any medical work done unless he had a complaint.
"Seems fishy." Karc said quietly to Shade, "Why would they have someone who specialises in neural sciences to examine us?"
Entering the base they were lead through to commander of the mercs. The older man swept his hand towards two seats. Sitting quietly Karc looked around uneasily before taking his helmet off, blinking several times to adjust to the light of the room, he was almost never asked to a debriefing especially for hits.
"Jurgen taken care of?" The old man asked.
"Target eliminated, single shot from point blank, clean and quick, he refused to divulge anything." Karc said in as a matter of fact voice as possible.
"Good, good. No hitches than?" Came the question.
Looking to Shade with a raised eyebrow before answering.
"No problems securing the facility and eliminating his guards, but one of his associates temporarily was able to incapacitate us." Karc said, knowing now he'd have to explain, but wasn't fully sure how.
"Care to explain?" The old man asked with more interest.
"Well it seems he had an artifact or some device that overrode the psy protection on our suits. From the video footage we were able to salvage, it seems this scientist had us lug a bunch of equipment somewhere, I don't recall any of what happened. After that we exited the facility. I suspect the scientist took a lot of the documents that would of been valuable as he had us move several sealed boxes while under whatever influence he placed over us." Karc said again, keeping his voice flat and neutral.
"Interesting, the facility is clear now?" Came the response after a measured pause, obviously sizing up what Karc had said, sliding an envelope to Shade and directing Karc to a small metal box, "Well gentlemen, your end of the deal has been up held. Here's your payment."
"Thank you sir." Karc said saluting curtly before picking up the box with a heave and hoisting up to his shoulder before leaving.
As they were leaving the commander called out, "And gentlemen don't forget to pay Professor Fossen a visit."
Stopping at the merc's trader Karc handed in his assault rifle and pistol along with the ammunition for the two guns. Opening the box he withdrew the highly modified AK 74/u and two small SMGs which he strapped to his armor and slung the gun over his shoulder before searching out the scientist to see what she wanted.
Finally finding her, he saw that Shade was already waiting.
"This should prove to be interesting." Karc said.

"Your not the only one with an interest with her ," Shade remarked under his breath as the woman approached them, noteing how deep she had immersed into the Merc's organization, "but I don't see either of us getting what we want."
Even in the zone somethings and people where off limits if only for a short time. Lisbet had bought herself protection form Karc's rage, just how the bandit was unsure, he had his own ideals dealing with her gender but he bet anything it had to do with her carer. Something was off about her, after their meeting Tosya had done some research on her and learned of her schooling. Why was someone like her even in the zone? most biologist and other medical researchers did their study far from the zone in nice safe and clean institutes far from the very borders of the zone.
"- That's one strange outfit to be wearing for a medical examination." Karc commented, after Lisbet had left them.
"- Must have had a date," remarked Shade as he watched her walk away, "her guards have their work cut of for them...if they can take their eyes off of her ass that is."
"- Seems fishy." Karc said quietly to Shade, "Why would they have someone who specialises in neural sciences to examine us?"
"- Maybe your boss did't tell us every thing we needed to know," the bandit remarked in a whisper, "I find it strange that she is overqualified to be some other egg head's underling."
They reported to the leader and collected their pay after a rather uncomfortable conversation. Shade opened the envelope and counted his money, then went to search out the Asian. He was soon rejoined by Karc.
"- This should prove to be interesting." Karc said.
"- Indeed," remarked the bandit, "let's not keep the good Professor waiting."
They entered the room, and the bandit nearly stopped dead in his tracks, there was some kind of table with a ring apparatus around it and what looked like X-ray machines. Equipment that he would have never expected to see or find in the zone. On the other side of the room was a curtain that hung down form the ceiling, marking it as the exam area.
"- Ah, right on time," the woman said now dressed in scrubs and pulling on medical gloves, "The sooner we start the sooner you may leave."
"- This going to take long," asked the bandit.
"- Unfortunately, yes," the women replied, "preliminary test will take sometime, I suggest you both get comfortable."
"I will ask for you to remove your suits, clothes and jewelry or dog tags you may be wearing," she continued, "We'll start with the X-rays."
"- X-rays?," the Russian questioned, "what for?"
" - The portable MRI is not nearly as powerful as others of kind but still cause metallic objects to dislodge, I need to decided if I can use it safely without harming either of you."
"Before we begin I must asked do either of you know why I was asked to do this," she asked when she did not received an answer she continued, "One of you sent a distorted, gargled to message to the base. We feared that you had succumb to zombification, or a controller. When you reported in hours later I was called to examine you...neither of you recall sending a message?"
