"Well done men, perfectly executed." Rurik said, "Grab those rifles, you'll find a scope more valuable then one of these." He said holding his PKM up.
Rurik and the 4 men that had come along didn't climb the ladder, instead allowing the younger stalkers the chance to search over the corpses above. Rurik paced back and forth waiting, the sound of people running caught his attention, waiting inside the hallway 2 more duty men came in. The Sergent he had given the orders to and a man with an RPG7 slung over his shoulder. "The general said the base is in lock down, and sent us to accompany you, Sir." the Sergent said saluting. Rurik saluted back, "It's probably to late now anyway."
He waited with his men while the scavenging above continued.

Maginot and Adder went up the old ladder leading to the old tunnel/bridge's upper storey and immediately got to work on the merc's corpses.
"Funny how they weren't here when we first went into the Wild Territory...", said Maginot as he grabbed one of the scoped AK-74 assault rifles. "-Doesn't matter, the Dutiers took good care of them", said Adder, as she too took an AK from one of the dead mercenaries. The two rifles were in pretty good condition, and would probably do better in a gunfight than their shortened AKs (although the latter would be good in cramped conditions).
The two stalkers searched the merc's corpses more thoroughly but did not find anything of interest, and finally rejoined the rest of the expedition.

Rurik was standing with his men when he heard a sound that was uncommon, the whirling of helicopter blades. "Come with me." He said to the Dutier with the RPG. Moving into open ground and looking up a helicopter was coming from the direction of Yantar, Rurik watched as it's path it was probably heading for Cordon. "Bring it down." He ordered before turning and calling his men out. "Duty, get ready if possible I want a survivor, whatever happened in Yantar is our business."
The man with the RPG called to Rurik "Sir, I have it lined up and ready to fire, waiting for your command." Rurik grinned to himself. "Fire." he watched as the projectile closed in on to the target hitting the rear of the helicopter, it spiraled down, near by. "Secure the area, neutralize hostiles." Rurik said to his men, looking back to the other group "You gentlemen hold this position, I'll send someone back once I'm sure it's safe." before moving with his squad towards the crash site. Several men were crawling from the wreck, dazed by the impact.
"Put your hands up or we will shoot." Rurik ordered, one of the men drew his pistol, and was promptly shot from several angles. Dropping with a meaty thud, the rest of the men put their hands up, some were barely standing, others just shaken from the crash, "Men, secure these men, disarm them and check for anything relevant to Yantar." Moving out from behind an old container Rurik's men converged on the soldiers...
"You men were at Yantar, and I'd like to know why?" He said to the soldiers, "Sergent, you and Kirill, check the crash for anything or any more people."

Although he'd been somewhat eager to help out, Chaos felt a little bad joining in on the scavenging. On the other hand, he'd be breaking from the group later and hunting for artifacts. After scaling the ladder, he rifled through the dead merc's PDAs, although he found nothing of interest. He grabbed the last of the rifles, although he held onto his own. [CHECK]
He slid down the ladder and peered out into the area ahead of them. The loner could see an abandoned shipping container with some type of ruined vehicle beyond it and a derelict garage. In the distance he thought he heard the growl of a mutant, but with the ambient, though distant, gunfire he couldn't really tell.
His PDA chirped and he pulled out immediately. It had picked up two more stalkers in the area, so he turned and ran back to the rest of the group. To his surprise, there was more of Duty's boys now and two of them appeared to be heavy weapons specialists, as one had an RPG7 and the other carried another PKM. Though slightly apprehensive, he felt much safer now.
"Hey, Rurik, I've heard a few rumors in the 100 Rads about Snorks and Bloodsuckers out here. Are they true?" he asked, looking at his companions as he stood there. Admittedly he'd always wanted to meet the creatures he'd inquired about, but preferably dead on a dissection table in a lab.

"Snorks? Bloodsuckers?"
Maginot and Adder suddenly felt less safe despite their heavy Duty escort. They had never encountered those creatures before, and had only heard of them in rumours and stories back in the Cordon, all of them describing the creatures as fearsome, bloodthirsty nightmare abominations.
"-We didn't see any of those on our first trip here...", said Adder, looking around the gloomy industrial ruins. A nearby doorway emitted ugly hissing and bubbling noises reminiscent of boiling acid, and the dark doorway seemed to be lit up by a faint, green glow.
"-I read a book called 'Roadside Picnic...it's incredible how similar this place is to the places in that book", said Maginot with a slight shiver, "that bubbling, glowing shit sounds just like Witch's Jelly."
Suddenly, there was a loud, but distant, hissing roar from somewhere in the abandoned industrial buildings near the old train quay, which quickly brought up a chorus of roars and snarls of different timbre and ferocity.
"-Those are snorks, right?", said Adder to the other more experienced expedition members. She felt fear place a cold hand on her heart, and she unconsciously tightened her grip on the double-barreled shotgun she had acquired at the 100 Rads Bar.

Lutiy was slowly walking around the downed helicopter when he saw several shapes emerge a good distance ahead. At least eight snorks emerged, crawling around the corner of the abandoned building, and headed across the platform, away from the group.
"Everyone! Take cover!" he hissed to the rest of the group "There's a decent chance we can get away with hiding without having to fight the beasts!" With that, he quickly leapt inside of the downed helicopter. "One word from you," he whispered to the man lying on the stretcher inside, "and we're both snork food, and you don't want that, especially if you want the man who blew your leg off dead." he added, noting the soldier's wound. The edges were cauterized, and the bullet had gone through at extreme velocity, no doubt the work of Seth's liquid-propelled SVU rounds.
Victor was pinned. He was a fair distance away from the rest of the group, next to the wall of the abandoned house. It wouldn't be long before the snorks took notice of him. Moreover, he'd never make it to the chopper or any other source of cover without drawing the snorks' attention. He inspected the wall, there were no doors, and the windows were nailed completely shut. Then he noticed a ladder leading to the building's roof a bit to the side.
Quietly, he crept over to the ladder, quickly scaling it, crawling onto the roof and out of sight.

Grabbing his younger brother and pulling him down, Harmund crouched behind a dumpster. "Are there really snorks out there?" Sigbrand whispered to his brother, "Yes," Harmund replied, "And if you don't keep your mouth shut your going to get a nice closeup of one." Sigbrand poked his head out to get a quick look at the mutants, there were eight or so of them, all crawling along on all fours like some creature out of a fantasy novel, the hoses from the now useless gas masks dragged across the ground when one of the beasts would bend its head down to sniff the ground. The clothes that covered the former humans were torn, exposing their bony backs.
Pulling his head back, Sigbrand waited for the hideous creatures to pass.

Chaos, who had been lagging behind somewhat, looking for an opprotunity to slip away from his companions and go artifact hunting, dove for cover when everyone else did. The alcove he chose soon became illuminated by an unusual bluish light. Upon turning around, he spotted what at first appeared to be a lightbulb, but upon picking it up, his gear suddenly felt lighter and he felt more awake. After quickly paging through his PDA he concluded that the object was a Moonlight. [CHECK]
Quickly, he tucked it into a pocket in his over-shirt and stood up, pressing his back to the wall and extinguishing his torch lest the snorks spot it. He delicately moved down the wall toward more glowing artifacts but paused at the smell of electricity in the air and fumbled around for a bit of metal in the dark. His fingers closed around a discarded screw and he tossed it in front of himself. immediately electricity arched in all directions and a deafening crack as it from thunder filled the air.
Not sooner had the lightning extinguished itself when a low growl sounded behind him. Please be a pseudo dog... he thought, turning around quickly and clicking his torch on. A tall roughly human shape appeared on the fringes of the light before vanishing entirely. His eyes went wide and he felt a set of claws rake themselves across his vest, ripping one of the pockets off his vest and knocking him to the ground. He pulled his knife out and grabbed the first limb his hand connected with.
Praying it wasn't his own, he stabbed out and began sawing with his knife. The bloodsucker roared loudly and tried to pull itself free, however, it was unable to shake Chaos's adreanline-fueled grip. The loner felt a set of tendrils begin clinging to his face, obviously aiming for his neck. He swung again, this time finding the creature's throat and cutting through it, severing its head.
He lay still on the ground for a moment before pulling the dead creature's head off his neck and laying on the ground. He rolled over, still having energy despite the recent struggle for his life. He got up on all fours, the dead bloodsucker's head still clasped in his left hand. He stood up and returned to his task of artifact hunting. After a moment's thought, and a slightly churning stomach, he wrapped the mutant's severed head in a spare shirt and tucked it into his pack.

Lutiy took a peek out of the downed Hind. The snorks had almost gone by, the last one still lingering in view by the platform. He breathed a sigh of relief. Although the expedition was large enough to take on eight or even more of the mutants, he did not want to take the risk of losing men so early.
Then he heard a roar near the warehouse behind the chopper, as well as a discharge of an electro anomaly. The snork immediately pulled back to investigate, as did the rest of its group. Lutiy cursed silently, hoping that the snorks would turn back upon finding no one in the clearing.
Victor crawled to the edge of the roof, wanting to get a better look at what was going on below. He could see the snorks almost directly beneath him, spreading out and sniffing the ground. After a long look, he began edging backwards into cover.
Then the roof beneath him gave in.
He gave a yell as he collapsed inside the abandoned house along with a considerable chunk of the plated wooden roof. Immediately his geiger counter began to tick frantically, the amount of radioactive isotopes in the air considerably above the safe limit. The snorks outside roared and leapt forward, frantically searching every nook and cranny of the area for humans upon hearing the noise. Shooting began, 9x39mm rounds fired from Duty Grozas and VALs filling the area. A single snork approached the downed Hind, looking for the source of the smell of fresh meat.
Victor immediately jammed the two thorns given by Kirill into his arm, giving a silent cry as the wounds began to bleed. He looked around, the room he was in had a window, which, like the rest, was nailed shut, as well as a half-open safe, inside which was...
The loner opened the door, revealing a shiny armored full-body suit with a visor [CHECK]. Immediately he removed his Berill vest, hoping that this new discovery would protect him from the radiation, at least temporarily. The visor hissed shut, and he immediately felt fresh, untainted air flow in, filtered by the system on his back. Outside, he could still shooting and the roar of the quadrupedal mutants. Grabbing his rifle, he began to smash the boards nailed into the nearby window.

He began grabbing the loose artifacts around himself, picking up two Flash and Sparkler artifacts. Immediately he tucked them into his shirt, feeling very over energized. [CHECK] Roars and shooting erupted around him and he clicked his torch on once more but took the stock of his rifle to his shoulder, holding it and looking around. The beam of light fell on an injured snork and he fired, putting several rounds through its temple and head before dropping back to the ground and breathing softly. I hate The Zone some days... he thought, turning back to the Moonlight artifact sitting teasingly out of reach.
With a sigh, he turned away from it, worried that shooting it might result in its destruction. He stood up and walked back to the dead snork, taking out his knife and hacking its head off. He cut a section of the creature's filthy shirt and wrapped the severed head in it then hung it from his pack. He continued onward, rejoining the group and looking around. "Is everyone all right?" he called, looking around. He padded down toward a nearby underpass that contained the same bluish glow. He could smell electricity in the air and paused. You gotta be kidding me... he thought, looking down the tunnel.
The glow was so inviting, but the risks just weren't worth it. He pulled out his PDA and switched it to comm mode. "Hey guys, everyone okay? Come to the underpass if you can move, I made an amazing discovery," he said with a smile.

Walking over to Chaos, Harmund and Sigrband followed his gaze into the underpass. "Mother of God..." Harmund muttered. Inside the tunnel was a veritable gold mine of artifacts, and the only thing that lay between the group and their prize was a staggering amount of Electro anomalies. "I don't know about you guys," Harmund said, "But I think it's worth the risk." Pulling a handful of bolts from his pocket he made his way down to the first few anomalies. "I'll find a safe path, then the rest of you can follow me!" he shouted back to his companions. After almost ten minutes of continuous bolt throwing, and climbing over various objects to avoid pools of electrified water, Harmund made his way across, "Ok!" He yelled back, "Just follow the intact bolts!"
Walking through the scattered crates, vehicles and storage containers, Harmund picked up four Flash and two Sparkler artifacts, two Flashes and one Sparkler for him and his brother. Walking farther down into the overpass Harmund came across a corpse in one of the storage containers. Picking up the man's PDA he found a few diary entries, apparently the man was a certain 'Gordon Freeman', "Poor guy," muttered Harmund, while he opened up the man's pack. Inside he was shocked to find a Desert Eagle! Not even a regular one, this one was chambered in the powerful 9x39! Holstering his new prize he walked back to the entrance of the overpass. [CHECK]

After the shooting died down Rurik turned back to the soldiers who were cowering close to the downed helicopter, "You have 2 options, you either tell me what you were doing in Yantar, after which you'll have safe passage to walk back to Cordon, or you can say nothing and get a bullet in the leg and wait for the next pack of snorks." Letting his words sink in, "Which will it be?"
While waiting for a response he summoned two of his men, "Find everyone, and bring them here."

Adder and Maginot did not go down into the underpass, after all, they had already been down there, and the prospect of seeing the remains of the bandits they had bumped off did not enchant them much. Instead, they stayed outside, near the downed helicopter, where Rurik was interrogating a man in military uniform.
"-I wonder what it is that guy has to say", said Adder looking pensively at the injured soldier.
"-No idea, but the presence of the military is giving me a bad feeling about what we might be getting into."
"-Did you hear that?"
The two loners turned around to face the old building next to the underpass entrance. They had definitely heard a loud snarl coming from there.
"-Could be a pseudo-dog", said Maginot, grabbing his shotgun. Adder did the same and scanned the darkened building's recesses. Another snarl drifted out from the old conrete and steel structure, and the two loners eventually saw the ugly head of a pseudo-dog emerge from the obscurity.
"Viens par là, petit con", said Maginot in French, "viens dire bonjour à mon flingue."
Suddenly, the ugly beast leaped at Adder, its powerful hind legs taking it through the air while Maginot's shot missed. Everything seemed to slow down as the beast's leap took it closer to Adder, who had raised her shotgun. She fired both barrels into the mutant's face just as it was about to slam into her, its ugly maw was ripped up by the buckshot. The limp corpse crashed into Adder, making her fall backwards to the ground. Swearing loudly, she shoved the ruined, bleeding corpse off her and stood up.
"That was close", said Maginot with a nervous laugh as Adder kicked the mutated animal's corpse away viciously, still swearing like a fishmonger, "if you had fired later, it would have ripped your throat out."
"-Fucking mutated piece of radioactive scum...", muttered Adder as she spat on the creature's corpse to add insult to death.

Following his path back out of the underpass, Harmund handed his brother his share of the artifacts, just as he was giving Sigbrand the last one, he saw something move out of the corner of his eye. Wheeling around and shouldering his Abakan Harmund saw a Pseudo dog jump at Adder, the loner raised her shotgun and fired, blasting a sizeable portion of the dog's head from the rest of its body. Walking over to Adder, Harmund kicked at the mutilated corpse, "That was one hell of a shot." He said, then turned back towards the helicopter where Rurik was interogating one of the soldiers.
Walking over next to the Dutier, he heard the man say "You have 2 options, you either tell me what you were doing in Yantar, after which you'll have safe passage to walk back to Cordon, or you can say nothing and get a bullet in the leg and wait for the next pack of snorks." Harmund drew and cocked his new sidearm to add emphasis to the massive Dutiers point.

Victor finally bashed the remaining board from the window, climbing out onto the train platform in his new suit. The shooting and roars had subsided, and most of the snorks were dead. Putting a bullet in the head of a beast that was still trying to crawl away from the scene, he walked into the clearing.
Rurik's forces had surrounded the downed chopper, and were questioning the military forces at gunpoint. Most of the soldiers were heavily wounded, and the co-pilot and gunner were dead, one from the crash, and the other from the Dutiers' bullets. Deciding not to join in the discussion of questionable moral standards, he instead made his way towards the underpass Chaos had mentioned.
He could see the second Moonlight, in the open. However, the telltale crackling around the artifact told him that it was hardly safe to touch without adequate protection. Time to test this suit's anomaly resistance, he thought, reaching forward for the artifact. Immediately, arcs of lighting latched on to his arm, and he felt a jolt spread through his entire body. The electric resistant fabric of the suit became covered with tiny dancing sparks, traveling up and down his frame. His fingers, shaking from the shock, finally closed around the glassy ball, and he hastily withdrew.
"Got it!" he smiled triumphantly, pulling down his visor. Walking towards the exit, he suddenly felt his foot slide on something, as he tripped and fell. "Aagh!" he yelled out, his fingers closing around a slimy, filmy material. In an instant, he realized he had fallen into the Fruit Punch anomaly by the exit. But instead of slowly melting into organic residue, he was... fine? He stood up, his entire body was covered in a green film of unknown origin. Not wanting to take risks, the loner began pulling the material off of his suit. The film immediately shrank to the size of a small bandage as he made the first tear, dislodging itself from his body.
Another artifact, he thought, examining the green material. He quickly pocketed it too, anything that saved his life once could prove useful in the future. [CHECK ALL]
Lutiy got out of the helicopter, holding a snork head by the gas mask hose. The beast's head dragged along the ground slightly.
"Alright folks," he approached the group of soldiers in SKAT suits "There's only a bit of Q&A I would like to personally address. One: what was your purpose in Yantar? And two: do any of you know of anyone named Seth or see any Freedom presence there?"
